Yep - fantastic random generators, very musical and usable, unlike some randomizers. They seem to be more like mutators to me - at least that's how it seemed with needlepoint - maybe someone who has experimented more can confirm or put me right.
Edit : based on one of the posts above, seems that it is probably until Jan 2nd
Good. I just need a couple of days. The reverb will also be mine, cannot resist reverb FX.
@Montreal_Music Silo is also a reverb btw!
Silo is outrageous. It’s very quickly kicked Discord 4 out of the ring to become my favourite experimental fx.
I was wondering what else to get, along with Lo-Fi-AF, but I’ll just get the whole bundle now!
I'm really glad to see more big guys coming to iOS wight these AAA tools. I think all fives are great in their manner, Silo is even greater. One of the best granular FX on par with Arturia Fragments, Sugar Bytes Graindad and Output Portal. I love how it can turn anything into ethereal pads, noisy textures or crazy granular mess. Hope to see more UA stuff on iOS. Especially SpecOps, it's unique one that still been heavily used in Ableton and Bitwig
"Audiobus Forum Deja vu"....didn't we go through this massive "best ever, must buy" excitement with Kymatica FX filters release, then the Audio Damage FX filters release, and then the Fab Filters FX release?
Groundapp Day
>
They’re all good too but these are pretty unique, and IMHO are pushing the limits of what these type of fx can do a bit further than the rest.
And you get the whole suite for the price of one Fab Filter.
As nice as the kymatica fx apps are, they are very vanilla compared to these. These are all highly highly experimental. The Audio Damage stuff is experimental but often buggy, but at least the price is right for iOS. Fab Filter stuff is very good but tends to have a learning curve, UI is not ideal for touchscreen and they are considered a bit pricy by many users.
These are experimental, intuitive, perfect UIs. I predict these will stand the test of time.
Great demos @Gavinski and @eylvy !
Yeah Gav, I know...things keep getting better. And that is good.
You watch - in 6 months another desktop developer will port their software across to iOS and we'll go through the whole "best ever, must buy" Groundapp Day thing again...
I still pray for AudioThing, they make such great stuff.
🤝
Of course, cos everyone here, or almost everyone, is an app addict 😂
Of course there will be new shiny bright toys coming down the road and of course this thread will be a ghost town a few days from now. But these are very good, are worth getting, and are great value, especially at the intro price.
I’ve been under the impression that GB iOS already has PDC for years? . This doesn’t seem PDC related, feels like a genuine bug - the delay is significant
on ipad pro 4th beta versions are cpu intensive and introduce rather big lag when applied to live playing instrument in Drambo
Nope, no PDC in GB as far as I know as any plug-in that has any kind of 'look ahead' will cause latency in GarageBand.
This is especially noticeable when you have the same audio-track on two channels and push the other track thru a limiter with has optional look-ahead (fixed or variable).
I recall there was a discussion regarding these plug-ins that they do report the latency back to the host but very few hosts support PDC so it becomes an issue that is more or less unsolvable for now.
These kind of issues among others drove me back to Logic on the Mac for DAW duties...
Another point for not ideal UI. This is the kind of info I'm looking for right now, as I have to make a decision regarding the FabFilters (specifically the Creative bundle). Currently leaning towards not getting any, but I expect to do a few… oscillations (ka-dish) before finally making a choice.
If it helps, read thru the FF manuals first, there are some not so obvious gestures that can be used in all their apps.
Tap'n'Drag is one gesture while Double-Tap'n'Drag is yet another. For Pro Q-3 this Double-Tap'n'Drag adjust the Q-Factor as one example. The manuals explain all these gestures quite well and after a while it's kinda automatic.
The 'tap zones' are not as small as the graphics might suggest so if you're roughly at the right place you'll be spot on.
Even though we have the TB plug-ins as well I do prefer Pro-Q 3 over TB Equalizer but on the other end I prefer TB Barricade over Pro-L2. Options are good
Sure there's a bit of a learning curve but one that is well worth it!
I did do a LOT of manual diving on the FF stuff before I finally decided to dig in...
...and also did the 30 day trial on desktop for all the plug-ins to make myself aware about what I was getting.
After that sure, 'expensive' by iOS/iPadOS standards but a fraction of the desktop cost.
I'd buy them all over again if I was just starting out...
Cheers!
Yeah - @Stargazer - I don’t mean in any way to imply that the FF UIs are unusable, definitely not. And as Samu said, they did actually improve them by making the ‘tap zones’ a lot bigger. The FF Creative apps are definitely worth getting if your budget stretches to them. But personally if I had to choose between 1 of those FF apps (Saturn is 20 bucks at the moment) or the whole 5 Unfiltered Audio apps (will be 20 bucks when the bundle is out) I would go with the UA apps.
I will say though, there is definitely some degree of delay with the reverbs (Silo and Tails) in AUM also while playing live - until just now I had always used them with sequenced midi and soundscape type stuff so didn’t notice this. I need to experiment more to see whether it just depends on presets, settings etc.
A quick run through with Tails on a guitar in AUM was nearly unusable. So much latency that I’m sure it has to be user error; no way would a beta tester not have flagged this. I’ll reinvestigate when I have more time.
Very nice FX plugins, some of the best we've had on the platform for ages.
Yeah I think there might be a latency issue here too, it’s the first time I’ve seen a max latency warning in AUM, which is highly unusual. AUM has Latency compensation and is good for checking latency, pull back each node reveals each plugin cpu use and any latency.
I've noticed that Tails can jump from no latency to 100ms per instance when you add another UA plugin for example.
Are you using it with a hardware input or an ios synth?
@trickyflemming latency issues or....?
@Samu Thx, that's useful info. I don't mind a learning curve, was mostly worried that it might be difficult to do certain things (small size) even when done right.

Didn't take it as ”unusable” (in that case the decision would have been made, not more fence-sitting) but simply as ”not ideal”. That may not be a big deal, but it's something, and any little thing matters if you're on the fence.
iOS synth, so you wouldn't necessarily notice it with the compensation unless you are playing with a live input.
Fairly sure it was flagged on the beta threads and also reported on other forums (gearspace, kvr etc)
