Buchla or Buchla Easer for iPhone?
What options for iPhone do we have in terms of emulating Buchla sounds?

Pretty slim pickings for West-coast sounds, there’s ripplemaker and branches, and that’s about it, and neither are quite a buchla clone. It’s a real shame. iVCS3 is very good for experimental stuff too, but again, it’s not the same. Am waiting for Madrona labs to port Aalto to iOS, it’s planned, but not a big priority I think.
I'd almost ditch desktop forever if/when that happened!
I forgot to include miRack, here is an Easel patch:

You have some Easel modules in miRack too! Nysthi dual LPG, Sequencer, Pulser, Envelope...
Wow the miRack. Totally didn’t think about this one.
Hahah totally agree!!

^ good call.
miRack is very cool. In my opinion those modules (like the other "west coast" ios apps) are cool but sound very little like a Buchla easel.
ID700 is an amazing app but nothing like an easel..(very) different architecture and sound.
I am skeptical that we’ll see Aalto on iOS. Madrona has said for years that they’d like to do an iOS release but unless something has changed recently, it (understandably) hasn’t seemed like a high priority.
This. Easel is not the sound, is the playability. The envelopes in id700 offers a LOT of expression.
The think is, Easel is more an instrument itself. There is no “a like” even on Eurorack
The LPGs, envelopes, pulser.... are not "sounding", those are very well made emulations function and response wise. Nysthi have experience with buchla/serge/EMS gear. I have here not one but two(!) Buchla easels (BEMI easel + 208R) that are some of my main tools so I can tell you... just need to recreate the oscillators, but it can be done. I got a really nice recreation of the 258 oscillator using tides (tidal modulator)
Yes, it is... a great instrument in its own, just like the EMS synthi or VCS3.
ID700 is an awesome instrument too! A good controller with lot of knobs (Launchcontrol XL is what I use) makes ID700 shine more that actually does.
About a miRack Easel emulation, I`d bind most of the parameters to an external controller, at least all the faders in the original, because you actually play those faders a lot! more than the keys I´d say! Need to try my 16n controller with that.
Fair enough, I’ve never managed to get an oscillator in miRack that sounds like an easel’s (I.e. if one is using the easel’s timbre (wave folding). Could you share a miRack patch that gets into the ballpark?

You have my “dreams” setup. After I played an Easel on Schneidersladen, I’m in love. My problem is that I love the sound and the drone of Buchla, not the usual bongos and blipblops. Try to recreate how I played the Easel, how I moved the faders and how it sounds, seems impossible. If you can share some tips about tides, I will be grateful
Exactly the same. I bind the ID700 with a Launchcontrol and Launchcontrol XL. This is my setup right now,
Ipad with ID700 and two Launchcontrols/XL
0-coast/0-ctrl
To Ableton live
The first thing I did with Tera pro was make a sort of buchlaish thing, might not be an exact sound but you can get the flavour, and the semi modular nature has other similarities, the limits are similar I guess…
I’m on travel right now but here are some visual references:
The saw wave is almost the same as the 258 oscillator, the easel complex oscillator timbre is about 6 folds, so you need to limit the WaveFolder range. In the BEMI easel is a bit less, about 4 folds. Hope helps you making your “clone”!!
Ps. Also add some “driftgen” to parameters and specially to v/oct input for some analog movement
Not exactly sure, maybe some of you more experienced could identify better, but could zMors fit the bill?
It's older... IAA only.
