For real-time strumming “playability”, I’ve not found anything better than Guitarism.
It’s getting quite long in the tooth in app years, but still works fine for me on an M1 iPad with the latest IOS.
The built in sounds and effects are ok, but I usually use it as a midi strumming controller into a virtual instrument in Auria or AUM.
MIDI Strummer by 4Pockets was perhaps the only guitar-app that I didn't purchase over the years, but, now I'm an happy owner to MIDI Strummer...
This is real addiction if you like strumming and learning chords and other things around guitar - wish though that this could be run in Logic Pro on my MacBook Pro (Apple Silicon)...
Thanks Richard for this great tips!
And, thanks again to Paul for making such a great collection of apps!
Is this AUv3? I fear not…?
If you click the midi input button you can choose for piano chords to be converted to guitar chords -- if you choose the option that also lets you "control" the app, you can send chords in from the keyboard or another sequencer, have Midi Strummer convert them to guitar chords and strum them, and you can also send in the midi control messages to have the app change strum patterns. I often pair this app with Scaler 2 to receive a chord progression I wrote, then also set up an instance of Atom 2 to send in midi to have the app change strum patterns so that there's variation -- if you don't do this, there's no way to have the app change strum patterns while also receiving note midi. You can't choose the chord inversions if you feed it midi, unfortunately.
Thanks for more tips on this great app!
Today I tested MIDI Strummer app in Logic Pro for Mac - although it says that it’s not Validated, it works great in Logic Pro!
One hour with a lot if testing the app - no hickups whatsoever…
Only problem was to get MIDI out of MIDI Strummer app in Logic, just to send MIDI to Pianoteqs acc guitar…
