Anyone know how to solve iPhone 4s wifi connectivity issues?

As the subject suggests. I've been on the Apple discussion forums and none of the "solutions/troubleshooting" works. Sometimes the phone will look for wifi and not see it, other times it will connect, disconnect, over and over. Also, when wifi is turned on, the touchscreen is unresponsive and iMessages take several minutes to send. We have 4 other iOS devices working fine, some on iOS 7.1.2, others on previous iOS. This particular phone's problems began with 7.1.1, but gradually getting to the state it's in now. I thought installing 7.1.2 might help. I know this is a AudioBus/music forum, but I trust many of the people here, and the iPhone/iPad is our tool. I'm at my wit's end with this. I've been working on it for two days now. Thanks and apologies for posting this here. Remove post if not appropriate.

  • Reset network settings?

  • edited August 2014

@TGiG. Thanks. I've probably tried it 10 times over the past two days.

    I've tried:
    1. Unplugging router
    2. Turning off iPhone
    3. Hard reboot
    4. Reset network settings
    5. Renewing lease
    6. Turning off wifi, restart/hard reboot, turning wifi back on

Different combinations of all the above

    1. Leaving off overnight
    2. Even putting in freezer for a few minutes! (This actually solved the issue for about 10 minutes)

All of the above "solutions" come from Apple discussion forums.

I don't want to return to original settings because my daughter has a bunch of game stuff on there. I'm hoping there's another option someone may know.

This is bad for electronics despite some may say.

This is probably your only option left. Since 4 ios devices work fine it could also be a hardware failure.

@supanorton Have you tried it on other networks? Also, consider contacting Apple support.

It should be the last resort, but this may be the only way to figure out if it's a hardware or software problem. If you do decide to reset, perform a full backup via iTunes first. Test the wifi after reset, but before restoring the backup.

    Thanks guys. Makes sense.

It is interesting that the Apple discussion forums are loaded with very similar complaints.
