My handwriting recognition got a lot better. There are still a few annoying things happening with eight note that can be frustrating (especially when writing percussion parts) but overall the pencil experience got smoother. And I am still amazed at the level of realism that can be achieved which makes it very enjoyable.
You guys are inspiring me to get into this on a deeper level. I also just discovered StaffPad Radio which showcases works done entirely in StaffPad with no post editing. Pretty amazing stuff.
This sounds great! Unfortunately, I'm at work and my crappy little speakers aren't cutting it. I'm looking forward to listening to this on some good headphones tonight.
Thank you for listening and for the nice comment. I keep repeating on this thread, but @McD composition on this piece is really phenomenal. The main theme is very elegant to look at on a score and combine simplicity and sophistication. 3 groups of triplets that plays like a simple arpeggio but when played at certain speed, they give the feeling of three different voices stacked and answering to each other with syncopation. To me it's visually evocative of a succession of waves seen from the shore, where each wave seems to be feeding the following one. Anyway, his composition is pure gold and I am truly grateful he let me add some touches on it.
Thank you for listening ! Can't wait to hear your beautiful creations ! What is the best way to access the Staffpad radio ?
It’s on Apple Music but I haven’t been successful in finding it. I just listen in browser at:

This is incredible. Held my interest from start to finish. Time signature changes were seamless and smooth. I didn't even notice the mix. The musical content transcended any little mix details. This is like an entirely new musical genre, to me at least.
@McD @Jankun It knocked me out!
Wow, thank you for the nice words ! I didn't spend time on the mix, so I am sure it sounds messy on good monitors.
Glad you enjoyed. Sure it's not common, but new musical genre ? that's sweet ! Specially coming from someone as eclectic as you !
Whatever genre it is, one thing for sure, @McD 's composition is fantastic and unique !
Thank you for the link ! There are amazing composers using Staffpad !
Great work @McD @JanKun. I had to listen a few times - a lesson in how to construct and orchestrate a complex rhythmical masterpiece. Great to hear and see the original StaffPad version, too.
Thank you for listening ! Coming from pop and rock culture, It was very interesting and challenging to work on the complex rhythm from the original score. I am still amazed this kind of thing can be achieved on an iPad. Incredible how the tools for music production on iOS have evolved in only 12-13 years.
Very cinematic, very jazzy… sounds like a small section of a much larger piece… hope you are both up to the challenge 😊
We’ve got 2 done but @JanKun seems to have a lot of projects in process with @LinearLineman and his brother and his own singer/songwriter efforts. They was the first 2 happened was @JanKun hearing something I made and asking permission use it for Staffpad experimentation. I send him my score and he adds more… so far he has been kind and not deleted anything in the original or even change the length of the piece. He’s a very “gentle” collaborator. I recommend you work with him if given the opportunity. He’s a very original thinker musically and seems to have listened to everything good in the last 50 years.
I mentioned “Van Dyke Parks” to describe one of his works and he fired back: have you heard Joanna Newsome’s “Ys” that has Van Dykes Parks arrangements. Well… no. She reminds me of an American version of “Bjork” and Van Dykes still crafts fascinating string arrangements that serve the material.
I surely hope more tracks with @McD will follow. When focused, his compositions can be very elegant, smart and unpredictable which is very interesting and challenging to work on.
Nice of you @McD, but I probably have listened to only the tenth of the amazing music out there. A lifetime is not enough... Joanna Newsome is phenomenal. Go and check some of her live on YouTube if you haven't. Playing the Harp and singing incredibly lyrics the way she does is just insane.
