MIDI Harmonizer

Hi everyone,
is there an app that harmonized midi signals? Example: i set it to play a 5th up and i set it on Cmaj scale, i play C note and it plays C and G. I can't find anything like that...
Thanks :)

  • QuantiChord let’s you set MANY intervals from whatever root note you play. There are also several Mozaic scripts that do similar.

  • Thank you guys. Luckily you understood i wanted an AUv3 app 😊
I tried LK but it is not doing what i need: i don't need to write a loop and have it transformed into chords. I need to play live an have the midi signals to be transposed together with the original source.
QuantiChord might do the trick, the only annoying part is the impossibility to set up a scale without entering manually all the notes of the scale. I will keep it in mind if i don't find anything (also because i find it a bit on the expensive side 10$ for just that).
    Thank you :)

  • Mozaic has a few scripts that would fit the bill. Overlapping Note Transposer comes to mind, it’s on Patchstorage.

@GKorg 4Pockets NuRackFX has a MIDI Harmony (midi fx) processor that does what you want.. set the scale, set the interval and you’re off + running.. 3rds, 4ths, 5ths, 6ths etc..

I just tried those intervals + they all followed the scale properly except when I played a B (in C scale) it spit out a minor 6 interval instead of a tritone.. strange, bizarre.. 🤷‍♂️ All the other intervals worked as expected..

FWIW, in the key of C, a fifth above B should be F-natural - a diminished fifth. The perfect fifth F# isn't in the key of C.

    Music theory nerd input!

The B in a C major scale pairs with an F note which is a Tritone interval (aug 4th or diminished 5th.

    A perfect 5th from B is the F#.

Electing to use a harmonious G is a decision I can support.

I’m working on. Mozaic app that provides chords in arranged over 2 octaves. The inputs are labeled pads and the chords change by selected intervals (mediant 3rds by major and minor intervals up or down, chromatic or scales in major or minor).

The output goes into Atom 2 for me and I can export chord sequences into Staffpad for my string sections. I put each voice on its own midi channel so he parts get assigned fast.

Anyway Mozaic is perfect to build you a great AUv3 solution… devs will write and modify to your satisfaction for a good thank you.

  • @espiegel123 @McD Noticed my mistake after I posted + so I edited.. of course I meant a tritone interval.. thanks for catching it..

  • In my opinion, it shouldn’t choose a more consonant interval unless you want it to. An option to choose might be worthwhile.

I completely agree.. I figured it was just a coding bug.. I like the idea of having it be an option..

Nikokozi's Mela 3 midi modules can do this, and coincidentally enough, I will be doing a 40-min YT walkthrough on these very midi modules later today! Around 4pm UK time I guess. The Mela 3 midi AUv3 is superb.

It doesn't have exactly what your original post specifies, but it's close.

If I understand what you want correctly, StepPolyArp will do the job as well. Just set the scale and the relative intervals you need, then play the root notes of your progression.
