Tascam Model 24 with the iPad
Researching these online is rough.
I've been looking at the Zoom L-20 and Tascam Model 24 and despite the chaos the size will cause to my little room, the Tascam has almost won me over. I want to decouple from the computer while making music, and the Tascam looks like the ideal all-in-one solution for quickly but comprehensively recording jams.
I have hardware synths and some outboard effects along with the iPad. My plan is to integrate the iPad via AUM.
Anyone using the Model 24 specifically with a mixed setup like this?

I have a Model 24, I’ve used it a handful of times as an interface with my IPad Pro, but I find myself moving away from dedicated IPad production lately , especially with having to deal with usb hubs since the IPad has just the one port and then finding a way to charge the IPad , I’m using the camera connection kit , but at the end of the day it’s not feeling like it’s less work using my IPad . The Model 24 is a stand alone multi track recorder but it’s very bare bones, the only editing capabilities is the undo button. No cut copy or paste. I’m fine with it because sometimes I have jam sessions with other musicians and I can just hit record and capture everything, I wouldn’t have bought it solely based on the multi track function, I bought it because it’s 3 products in one, mixer, audio interface and stand alone recorder, and I have several analog synths, and an Mpc Live 2 and a set of VDrums running into it. I can’t complain about it for what it cost. I wish it had certain things but then it would probably cost a lot more, but overall I’m pleased with it.
I'm thinking about getting a TC Blender just to get 6 stereo channels from hardware synths and a few outboard fx units into the iPad.
Given how robust multitrack recording on the iPhone and iPad is, I see no advantage in using a standalone unit because it will not magically transfer the audio tracks to the iDevice.
I've done a few multitrack takes using Audio Evolution with an 8 i/o channels audio interface and both recording and editing have been a smooth experience.
Also, I find the possibility to record MIDI at the same time quite relevant.
