Guitar session suggestions
So I have been away for a while. I have been focusing on playing guitar and in doing so I’m finding it difficult to write and/or record. I have so many ideas for an album. I have discovered rock drummer which I like so far but still have not figured if I will be able record with it. But anted to ask…are there any apps that would be geared towards guitar players….I have cubasis, bunch of synths and all the fun stuff but I have yet to find anything for guitar players so is there anything like this …so far I have yet to find anything via search so just thought I would ask

First welcome back… second, just to clarify so I can try to help, what exactly are you looking for? Something to help you write the songs? Something To help you tab out, or write down the songs? Something to play backing guitar tracks? Something to record your guitar playing? Or…something else?
I, as well, can probably make suggestions if I understand what you are looking for.
Depends on what you are looking for. For amp sims there’s Nembrini, THU-Overloud, Tonex, Rhino, and many others. Depending on what style you prefer, any of the Lumbeats apps for a drummer or GarageBand which has a few to choose from. Riffler can serve as a bass player as well as an inspiration for licks or progressions. If you like making loops, can’t go wrong with Loopy Pro.
There’s many apps that can be of help when you want to record guitar based music. If you have a specific need it will be easier to point you in the right direction.
I want something to help write songs, I have the drums from rock drummer but it would be cool if there was an app that would listen to what you are playing and then add a bass line to your song…they have a pedal that can do this but it would be so much more beneficial if I could also if there was an app.if I had that I could load the bass line and drums intro AUM and then record it cubasis and I could also record my guitar. While doing this it would open up so many possibilities for a guitarist like myself as once I perfect it OMG the possibilities would limitless
I’m not sure there’s anything exactly like that you are looking for. Scaler2 can listen and suggest a key and scale. It also has bass sounds and multiple patterns to choose from so it might work, although it might be overkill.
Positive Grid's Gobeat can do that. You play your guitar riffs into the iPad microphone and the app generates matching bass and drums. Unfortunately, the last update was 4 years ago, but the app is free. Also from Positive Grid: X Drummer, generates a drum track to the played guitar.
You should also check out SessionBand Rock on YouTube.
I myself use Riffler (NOT Riffer, sometimes confused) for inspiration and play the generated riffs myself on guitar.
In iOS Scaler 2 is the closest I know, but it does a lot more than you want and maybe not exactly what you want. On the desktop EZ Bass is the answer.
I own the Digitech Trio+ pedal, and although it is a nice tool, I have trouble composing a whole song on it.
There are 5 sections, and you have to program or learn a few sections, or all, and then put them in a sequenced row. That is too much of a hassle to get it right. Just program one part and start looping is easy and fun.
The Trio+ works with Band in a Box software, so that is what I did, I bought the Band in a Box for Windows. Pretty expensive, but, it is so powerful, it is like a private guitar teacher in your house. At the end of the year they have discount. The version with the realtracks is a good deal.
For Ipad, the combination of Ibassist and the Lumbeat drummers comes close to the Trio+. You can use these apps with Quantiloop, and you have a Trio+ pedal on Ipad.
The Sessionband apps on Ipad work like a light version of Band in a Box, so that is an other way to get there.
The nice thing of Band in a Box is, when you program a whole song (with chord schematics), it can create solo´s in a certain style and they are transcripted. That is a goldmine for playing guitar.
A different approach is indeed Scaler 2, and when you learn to play bass guitar yourself, you can use the bass lines for inspiration.
And, to end this post, when you want to learn song writing, and learn what chord progressions work for you, get the Hooktheory 1 and 2 apps, and check there website. That will give you a jump start.
