Help! Stop Me/Encourage Me - Purchase

edited December 2022 in Hardware

I currently have a Maschine Mikro MK3, but just ran into a local deal for a full size MK3 for $225 with all cables, no box - apparently unregistered according to the current owner! Only minor blemish, chip at top of glass - see below. I will most likely sell the Mikro afterwards or gift it to a friend.
Should I or shouldn’t I buy?

  • Sounds like a good deal, basically half price. Is the manual/paperwork with it?
Don’t wanna create any doubts, but as long as everything is on the up and up. Go for it.
Maybe ask why they selling? Just to feel them out and make sure it’s not stolen or something. Otherwise go for it, but meet in public, and plug it in/do an inspection/try it out, if you can, before buying.

    Great questions!

No books or manual, owner says it was a gift from a friend that he no longer uses… I plan on bringing my laptop to test it before buying. Thank you for your advice!

If the serial number works then it's a good deal. I'd buy it definitely, just make sure you have the time to sit down and learn again.

That’s what I’m thinking. I do already have a Maschine Mikro, so I already know the workflow - thank goodness 😅

Along those same lines, police stations allow people to come in to make trades there to avoid any potential criminal activity. Check with your local police station to see if they allow this. When there were a lot of phone thefts about ten years ago treating a police station as “neutral ground” took off.

    Oh wow 😮

  • I bought a Maschine MK1 for 25$ and it's a really nice piece of gear. Still very nice many years later. If you have Komplete Select with it it's a snap. If you change your mind, put it on Marketplace for $300.

Sounds like you are having doubts about buying. If so, I wouldn't buy.

You know when you really want something - there are no doubts.

  • I own the Mk3 and choosing and tweaking sounds using the color lcd screens and knobs is very nice to have. I'm still thinking about ways to create NKS adaptions for including my own collection of one-shots and loops.

Does anyone have experience with intelligent sample managers like XLN XO, Algonaut Atlas or Synonym and integrating them in Maschine/NKS?

  • Got it and I am absolutely loving it!
The Mikro was fun, but a full size Maschine is gamechangier 😉
    New tunes to follow…

  • I have sold gear at a low price before, just to shift it, and always in great condition. Sometimes a deal is just a deal!
