MIDI clock from djay tempo to Audiobus to iConnectivity 5-pin DIN dongle
Anyone have experience sending MIDI clock out from iPad algoriddim djay Pro AI via Ableton Link to Audiobus and then to iConnectivity dongle for sending to 5-pin DIN MIDI cables to ext hardware?
Key issue is Audiobus has to remain in sync to djay’s changing tempo.
I want to control Kong Volcas as slave to tempo coming from djay so I can sync arps, sequences, and effects AND have it remain in sync as djay tracks change tempo.
Comments
Using Link there is no need of clock, AB3 should be on sync via Link with djay Pro AI
Then select from AB3 ,for midi clock destination iConnectivity physical midi ports
Audiobus has outstanding tracking with Link and one of the best MIDI implementations on iOS. The adjustable midi timing per output is really useful too.
Another option for your Midi Din output needs are something like these plugged into a USB hub if you run out of ports on the iConnectivity. Another possible advantage to this approach is to better leverage the midi timing adjustments.

BTW, if you're only using Audiobus for Link to Midi bridging, be sure to add at least an audio output node. It can be doing nothing, even muted. This is because if nothing at all is loaded in Audiobus, it'll eventually put itself to sleep.
