Wow, Wolfram Alpha is the ultimate music theory calculator! Check it out! Lots of examples.
I didn't realize Wolfram Alpha had such a complete set of tools for music theory. Here is their example page:

From scales to chords, note relationships, and midi, this might replace a few apps, or at least expand them!

Nice find!
This looks like it works well with Siri too, so long as you preface your question with "Wolfram, how many sharps..(or whatever your theory question might be)".
And nice Siri find! Wolfram does a lot of the data/math/conversion stuff that back Siri.
Sorry for necroposting, but that's a great site!
This online tool generates Midi files. Having fun importing into the iPad.
Other resources The sound of Pi ?
Nice.
Thanks for reviving this thread.
I missed it the first go-round.
Wolfram language is new to me. Can’t wait to read more about it.
Yea it’s awesome even export midi
Amazing.
It would be a lot easier to forget wolfram and just learn the music theory. Music theory is very easy.
Yeah, I know.
But these generative composers are always interesting.
great!
.
I happened to create tones.wolfram.com some 15 years ago.
It's a practically unlimited source of MIDI patterns. These days I'm having fun importing them into the iPad for making techno loops.
It would actually be cool to have an AUv3 MIDI generator based on such cellular automata patterns...
@Blaeu Thank you for creating such a cool site. And that would be an awesome AUv3... is that an idea that might come to fruition?
Would love to see more AUv3 Midi generators based on cellular automaton.
Aren't Xynthesizr and Quincy based on Conway's Game of Life? Not AUv3 though. On the desktop, Reaktor's Newscool is a lot of fun.
@Blaeu
Thank you.
Really interesting stuff.
Are you in Berkeley?
I would need to collaborate with somebody who can code for iOS.
Hopefully there a few developers able to help you on that front. If I did I’d be in... let’s call a few and see if any are interested....
@Blue_Mangoo @brambos @4Pockets @pagefall @VirSyn @bleassapp @Audiomodern
Anybody else wanna chime in with some developer names to see if anyone is interested in this idea.
This would probably something too complex for Mozaic.
@Blaeu I would also like to see someone create an AUv3 MIDI plugin that leveraged tones.wolfram.com
I want to do this on an iPad:

I see two related questions on the Wolfram community site, including one from an interested developer:
