Speaker distortion on IPad pro
Is it normal for the speakers to distort when battery levels are low ?

Yep, I’m on a M1 11” Pro, latest iPadOS, speakers distort when using AUM and battery is low. Usually around 20% I have to plug in, and the distortion stops.
I haven't noticed this myself, but from an electronics standpoint, it would make sense. Driving moderately loud speakers, especially with bass transients, briefly requires quite high currents, which an almost flat battery might not be able to provide, and thus iOS will probably limit the maximum audio level to prevent (even brief) undervoltages.
For nerds: this could be prevented by using a capacitor, which is essentially a small battery that can be recharged very quickly and could provide the necessary peak current when the "main" battery is low, but they're large and probably aren't worth it / didn't fit 😉

Hmmm just happened again there n battery is nearly 40% 🙁
Update : battery is now refusing to charge . The audio distortion was happening even though battery was over 50% charge . iPad Pro 12.9 5th gen 2021 .
