Will my PPG synths still work if I update to 16?
is what i want to know…
Comments
Phonem and Infinite are both still working for me on iPad OS 16.2 (10.5 2017 iPad Pro).
The apps should be OK when you upgrade your OS, but if you change devices chances are they will no longer be available.
Just checked: Wavemapper, which i have on iphone, does work on 16.
hm
Yes, they will work…

Just downloaded infinite from my purchased list…
But they will not stretch to 'full screen' as they were released before the wide-screen iPads were released.
So on the 11" there will be black borders on the sides.
Yes, and that one still has the 4:3 screen so no black borders![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
12.9" should be ok too but the 11" gets borders due to different aspect ratio.
thanks @Samu
big relief also that you are finding them in your purchases..
You may want to use iMazing to download and archive those apps before they disappear forever
iMazing should be able to backup IPAs from device for later re-install.
But for me It's not super important, used to back up old 32-bit apps but since they can no longer be run on any device and the apps were honestly not that special I've stopped doing that since time ago...
The only app I miss that has been removed from the Appstore (Due to Meta/Facebook taking over Accusonus and closing the app business since they have pretty unique noise removal algorithms and other IP that they probably need for 'Meta Verse') is BeatFormer but FAC Transient comes close enough in practical use apart from missing the option to 'tune' the low-end resonance frequency. No bigger loss as it was a 'Free' app when it was initially released...
Cheers!
i’ve looked at the iMazing backup idea (i like iMazing for sure). but it seems that it wants me to first do a backup of my entire device, then puts the brakes on the processes, too much data to fit on my pc…
iMazing doesn’t extract the IPA from the device. It downloads it from the store to a local drive and can reinstall from that copy. The IPAs on the device itself is inextractable which is why one needs to do this while they are still available on Apple’s servers.
I don’t think that is required for the app archiving…but am not sure. IMazing is an essential app for me due to the ability to retrieve data from backups without needing to perform a complete restore.
I'm not sure about backing up IPAs from the device. I believe iMazing downloads the app installation package (IPA) from the AppStore. The device only has the installed files, not the installation package. So the question would be whether iMazing can download from your Purchased, or only directly from an AppStore search, since these apps are no longer sold in the AppStore.
iMazing, as I mentioned before, gets the binaries from Apple’s servers. In my experience, it can get anything that shows up in your purchased apps AND some (but not all) that don’t show up there.
After iMazing has retrieved the apps, it allows to make a local copy for later restore actions.
In my case it took quite a while to fetch the PPGs (compared to apps still listed in store) and there were a couple of connection fails, but eventually all was saved.
They check with the store for your purchases, but the data is probably fetched from elsewhere.
