Anybody else feel like they’re addicted to the iOS music production environment?
I used to say I’m addicted to making music as a joke, but I’m writing this from the bathroom, where I snuck away from having a pleasant family reunion over (belated) Xmas dinner to quickly make a bassline in Pure Acid and tuck it away for later.
I have a problem!

Yes...BUT there are far worse things to be addicted to so I wear it proudly. I made a full loop with instruments, vox, fx, etc. this morning sitting next to the fireplace with a military grade level of bed head while family browsed Tik Tok and reddit. I have a full composition and they have the emptiness that comes from doomscrolling the news or what have you. I’ll take it
Nothing wrong with being assisted by abf members 😉
No, just addicted to buying apps.
That's why I'm saving up for an iPhone 14 Pro Max with 1TB storage, lol. iOS music production is really effing addictive, lol. I stayed at home today and produced three full beats. Yeah, I'm crazy, lol.
I am totally guilty.
At least I seem to be dependant of the generally streamlined behaviour of iOS. Yesterday I was installing Cubase on a new Macbook, and the installer did not work at all. It took me hours of hair-pulling research to find a cure. It turned out that the installer was not happy about one specific font that was in the system, and resetting fonts to “factory”, fixed the problem, so Cubase could be installed. The whole process was absolutely infuriating and a complete waste of my time. Bravo Steinberg. 💩
Sorry, I just had to vent.
So yes, have not been using a computer for a while, and the above was my return to using them again. Not very promising. Ten years ago I would not have given this incident a second thought, but after a couple of years on an iPad, it just seemed so utterly ridiculous.
Credit where credit is due though: refusing to install because of a font is exquisite trolling from Cubase. 👏👏👏
BTW, before the age of the internet these things were impossible to find and rectify, so they at least gave you a chance. 🤷
It's been 13 years...
yet, I feel totally "clean" now.
Don't worry, I'm sure the EU will fix it.
It’s designed to be addictive! As mentioned, there are worse things to be addicted to…eurocrack for example 😛
Nice try. 👍 You keep bringing it up, prompt or no prompt. The EU seems to be living rent-free in your head but, borrowing from the comments on this thread, there are worse addictions. 🙂👌
Exactly!!!! As a recovering addict, iOS is an addiction I champion
Along with many other things...
Got addicted to the idea of having a portable setup for live performance.
Trying to build a one or two iPad continuous live performance setup since 2019.
It might get closer with next update of Loopy pro and Drambo
