Anyone Using a Dell D3100 Dock with their iPad?

edited December 2022 in Hardware

Hey Team!

I got excited after the stage manager, multi-monitor update and immediately went about trying to get my iPad Pro (M1 11") hooked up. Put a lowball bid on a Dell D3100 on eBay and while waiting I managed to get a workable situation with an Apple HDMI/USB dongle and a powered hub.

Now I have the Dell and would prefer to use it as it's all in one and also has ethernet etc. When I plug it in though I get no video out. USB seems to work fine. The other thing is that it seems to not be providing power to the iPad. I had to get another cable with USB-C to connect as the one that comes with the unit terminates in the larger USB-C. I wonder if this may be the issue as I don't think external monitor support works without the iPad being powered?

Anyone had success and has any tips?

TIA!

Yeh but iPad users have been using other similar Dell docks and I "think" I saw a thread on some forum somewhere where folks were using this (back in mirroring days). Thanks for having a look though. Appreciated.

  • Ok, just read some more on the unit (which I should have done prior to purchase!) and it does not provide power to the host. Time for it to go back on the old eBay merry go round!
