"2023" EP (not just Lofi this time!)/Happy New Year!

https://jwmmakerofmusic.bandcamp.com/album/2023

Well to be fair, the whole EP was mastered in a Lofi way, but there are only two tracks I'd consider "Lofi" as it were. I also have a whole Hip Hop track with rapper Malleous spittin fire bars, a Mariachi Reggaeton track, and an "adult contemporary" type track to close off the EP. Give it a listen. Let me know what you think.

And I wanna wish you all a Happy New Year! ❤️‍🔥

  • What do I think? I think it's freakin' brilliant. I don't know what Lo-Fi is, nor do I give a shit. If Weather Report did house music... Great stuff JWM. It kept my attention all the way. Happy New Year, amigo!

  • Happy New Year! Wishing you all the best in 2023.

  • Congratulations @jwmmakerofmusic on this excellent EP.
Very timely to close this chapter, and enter into 2023.
Wishing you the best and a prosperous year of creativity to come.
    Love this whole production.
    Happy New Year!

  • great album, really feeling the sound selections and the drums patterns groove, by the way your friend Malleous Kill that track with his flow and lyrics plus that beat was fire, the reggaeton it sounded more like cumbia to me because of the swing that it has, but anyway great album for sure 🔥🔥🔥

Thank you so much mate! God bless. 🥰

Hmmm, I thought a Cumbia beat was different. 🙂 (Note to self, check out Cumbia beats to try on my next EP. 🚬😎 I never know what I'll learn next.)

Yep, I love making beats that are off grid. Learned that a month and a half ago from reading about J Dilla thanks to the wonderful forum denizens who helped me learn Lofi production. 🔥 J Dilla will always be an inspiration for me now. Gone but never forgotten.

Malleous is one amazing artist! I simply gave him the beat, said make it a "new year's resolution" but not corny, and BAM! Fire 🔥! I am so blessed to have him in my life as well as so many other talented friends, family, and all of you mates here too.

Yeah, I'm absolutely high rn and feelin absolutely grateful! Life is so good!

  • The first track would fit very nicely in a Spike Lee joint (at least from my POV).

Loved the whole EP, especially Salvador. Most of it had a chill and slightly melancholy feeling to me.

I'll have to admit to only giving this a quick flick-through, but it sounds really good and I will definitely listen in full later. Your ability to hop between genres is mighty impressive! Also, I'd imagine that LoFi, at least in ios world, will get you more exposure than the trance / edm stuff you were focused on previously. Wishing you success jwm, and by the way, you always bring a great positive vibe with your posts on the forum, even when being critical. Props! 😎

Thank you so much! "Salvador" was written for my second dad, aka my sister's (well, half-sister technically speaking, but she's my sister) dad. A great guy, and I'm so glad to know him. :) He considers me his son. <3

"The Morning After" especially has that wistful feeling to it. :)

"New Year's Eve" does sound like something that'd fit a Spike Lee joint! Love his films. :)

Thank you mate. :) At your leisure of course. I know you're often super busy with your work, but the fact you'll dedicate some time to listen means a lot to me.

Your ability to hop between genres is mighty impressive!

Thank you mate. :) Well, back in November of last year (2022) there was a bit of a learning curve that this wonderful forum helped me with. Can I learn Scaler 2 someday? Perhaps if I feel so inclined. 😂 But can I learn to produce in a new genre practically overnight? Definitely, but not without some of the amazing help I received here!

Also, I'd imagine that LoFi, at least in ios world, will get you more exposure than the trance / edm stuff you were focused on previously.

The past month and a half/two months has proven this. :) See, there seems to be a drought of people looking for a Trance/EDM remix of their latest pop creation, but there are no shortage of people who want to try their hand at rapping, let alone can actually spit! My friend Malleous wishes to buy beats off of me. A regular at the restaurant I play piano at has a daughter who spits and is looking for beats. But I'm not only beatmaker but have experience as a music producer as well. Hello new career path!

Wishing you success jwm, and by the way, you always bring a great positive vibe with your posts on the forum, even when being critical. Props! 😎

God bless you my friend. ❤️ I'm hoping the issues with your right eye will get sorted, and I'm sending you prayers that it all goes well, no matter which course of action you may take.

I try to keep positive, because there's already enough negativity in the world. When I let Matt know about the bug in Saga for instance, I let him know about the thread about it but also told him that I know a lot of work and love went into the app. (Which is true! A lot of iOS plugins are either ported from Desktop where the main income are desktop producers, or are true labours of love.)

Yep, you're an inspiration, most6of us, including myself, could learn a lot from your attitude. Keep on flying that flag!

  • Feelin the swing on them drums! Malleus sounds a little like Deltron

That's so humbling of you to say mate. 😌 Especially coming from you, a well-respected content creator and overall great bloke.
