  • You might use the Octaver in BYOD.

Find the best polyphonic pitch shifter you can 😊
If you're also interested in hardware then check the TC Sub'N'Up pedal or the cheap Donner Harmonic Square.

Thanks. I didn't heard about this app

  • Nothing is really going to quite do it, but you could put a very fast delay on it and pitch shift the wet signal. Probably better to keep that wet signal lower in the mix and bury it a little in reverb.

  • AmpliTube Acoustic CS has a 12-string unit that is an IAP. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/amplitube-acoustic-cs/id1038441801

It does a lot of things, but by the reviews, not very well. Might want to search YouTube for it — as well as other 6 to 12-string options.

  • A looper. Play 6 strings, record, playback and play again.

This is the best solution: double the guitar track. Preferably with one guitar in Nashville tuning. The standard tuning doubled with Nashville sound is even fatter and more chorusy than a 12-string. No app will ever come close.

I don’t keep a guitar tuned in Nashville, so I use a ronroco instead.

thanks. It's for live performance with a band, so looper will not be good. I was thinking rather about some doubler feature or a chorus which works that way

+1 for the Nashville tuning. There are other open tunings that can also get you close. I recently made an Iron And Wine cover with Bootsy were I overdubbed Bootsy's main guitar with my Acoustic guitar in BEBEBE. You can get interesting results sounding close to 12 string guitar or even mandolin with a capo on the 7th fret. Here's a link to the track.

You may want to stack multiple fx to fatten it up for live. Maybe a granulated delay into a chorus into a reverb.

Tight track. How did you make the violin part?

Thanks. The strings were made with Staffpad.

Midi strummer fx by 4P has a 12 string mode which makes the midi notes sound like they are coming from a 12 string instead of 6.

  • edited January 2023

Maybe CuSnP a free Au string resonator where you can change the strings hz.

  • Fiddlicator might help with some impulse response. It’s free but IAA only, midi IAP is free.

  • Maybe Jax Unisonic…

    Maybe something here ? http://acousticir.free.fr/spip.php?rubrique2

Ive used the ukulele and banjo IR a few months ago with a very interesting result. And its 100% free.

Edit : check this one http://acousticir.free.fr/spip.php?article186

    That's a fantastic resource.
Thank you for the heads up!

    This sounded passable to me.

  • edited January 2023

For this effect you need a slightly detuned octave up sound mixed with your dry tone. Unfortunately, I haven’t found any passable polyphonic pitch-shifting app (for live use) on iOS. So, hardware guitar pedals is a way to go - EHX Pogs series, Digitech Mosaic (designed exclusively for 12 string effect), TC Sub’n’Up and so on… I had good results with EHX Micro Pog pedal.
