Basant Mukhari for fretless classical guitar, GeoFlute, Animoog, and ronroco

This started life as a guitar improvisation. Then I overdubbed parts. Every part is a first take improvisation, no edits, for better or for worse.

Guitar is a fretless Rondo Agile Renaissance recorded into the iPad mic. Then I overdubbed some ronroco, Indian Drummer, GeoFlute, Animoog, vocal and caxixi.

  • Worked for me. I thought this was excellent. It reminded me a bit of the theme for the tv series ROME.
Has a gritty ancient feel but serene. Good start for the new year, bro. 👍👍

You inspired this one! Remember that Cubasis project you shared with me? I wasn’t able to add anything worthwhile to it, but I was inspired by your general process of orchestrating your improvisations. I don’t have midi improvs to work with like you do, but the general idea of layering over an improv seems a fruitful approach for a lazy guy like me who just wants to get the ideas out without too much technical nitpicking. So thanks for that, and for listening.

  • Nice world music sounds! Very evocative of the Indian countryside for me! (I don't live there but experienced it once! ;) )

  • Great track, loved the sound of the Fretless guitar (googled it and it looks lovely).
Shades of Shakti, one of my favourite ever groups who, btw, are touring this year.
I could listen to a full album of you doing this 🙏
