Drambo midi effect automation in Loopy Pro
I can’t figure out how to control effects or widgets with Drambo inside of Loopy Pro. Works fine in Aum, I can create a CC generator with a knob inside of Drambo and record automation to control effects in Aum just fine. I used Virtual midi in and out and tried all kinds of stuff and I can’t get the CC messages outside of Drambo to anything else. I can drive synths and other midi plugins. How would I control effects with Drambo?

Are you trying to send MIDI to other AU plugins or to Loopy’s MIDI control system?
To get MIDI to the MIDI control system you currently either need to bounce it off a standalone app (like StreamByter) or use miRack or MIDIRoute AU to route the events to Loopy’s virtual midi in.
You can then set up midi bindings between cc’s and AUv3 parameters with the adjust effect parameter action.
In the upcoming 1.1 version this loopback won’t be necessary.
Ok so like this? Now what? How do I get streambyter to send its midi info to Virtual Midi in? There’s an option to go to midi out, that doesn’t seem to work. I can see Streambyter receiving and ready to send stuff out, where do I send it to?
Tried both actually. I just want to be able to control automation of effects with Drambo inside of loopy pro.
Figured out how to do it with Midifire, I don’t really know how to use streambyter I’ll have to look into it.
To do it with StreamByter, you need to load it stand-alone, send to and receive from the virtual MIDI ports it publishes. StreamByter just passes all it receives through to its output, so this does the trick (no scripting required). This works the same as MidiFire, except only one port (in and out) and no routing possibliities. Loading StreamByter in Loopy Pro will not help in this case.
You don't need to set Streambyter to send to Virtual MIDI In. You just need to run Streambyter, then in Loopy Pro midi control select Streambyter as the input for the control.
Sending MIDI from one plugin to another is different from sending to midi control. To send MIDI from Drambo AU to a plugin that can receive MIDI, you add a copy of your Drambo AU (that you have already running) as a MIDI source. This gives you a lane from Drambo as a MIDI source. You then add anything you want to send MIDI to as a Destination. So, it matters whether the 'automation' is done by MIDI sent to the plugin itself or via the host's AU automation (which in Loopy is handled by MIDI Control).
