Would an iPad Mini be worth it, to run midi-controllers etc?
I've been wondering if I might be able to run some midi controllers on an iPad Mini. If so, what would be the minimum model spec for a dedicated iPad Mini? I wanted to run sqsl Temp on one, but I gather that's not possible. But hoping for some thoughts and comments on what hardware (iPad Mini) and apps that might work well for me in this kind of setup, alongside my iPad.

Have a mini 5 and have been abusing it for more as 3 years it can take a beating, lots of apps, synths, ffx and connect it to a ton of controllers including a Model:Cycles and a Dreadbox Typhon al at once with the cc’s and a simple powered usb hub no problem. Of course there’s a limit but Drambo, 6 channels of mixed drum synth modules and samples, 5 synths and the typhon and m:c as external all connected with only the usb with some compressors , aum sequencers, Saturators, filters on all channels, reverb and delays it all works. But at that point I’m wanting a newer model, mostly when opening the aum synths, probably the display of the synths, iPad cant keep up then sometimes.
Thanks @Frank303, that's helpful to know.
How do you connect it to the Model:Cycles?
I think you should try to spend the extra money to get a decent sized ipad. If using it as a controller you will really appreciate the extra screen estate. You also definitely want something that can run recent iOS - for example Temp needs minimum iOS 15.
That's what I was waiting for someone to say. Budget is the challenge. Lack of. It's a wish right now. My main iPad is on iOS16.
I have an olde iPad Mini 2 and have used it for light duty MIDI things like AUM/Rozetta, Fugue Machine, DRC, Funk Drummer, Modstep etc. Works for me. Generally speaking I don't think MIDI is very processor intensive. I also like the size a lot as it can fit a cramped desk well or be easily hand held.
