Problem using Koala Sampler auv3 plugin with Cubasis 3.5

Greetings to all.

Unfortunately, I've run into a problem using Koala Sampler auv3 in Cubasis.
For the first time, I'm trying to use Koala as an auv3 in Cubasis 3.5. I was trying to record a drum track on my 2017 iPad Pro 12.9" (iPadOS15.7.1).

I started by creating a MIDI track on track 1 and assigning Koala to it as an auv3. I then went and loaded up my drum samples (saved as a song) in the Koala auv3 and assigned each pad to its own MIDI channel.

Then I went back to track 1 and on the left side where it says Koala Sampler (below "Routing" and above "Insert Effects"), I clicked "Add 7 Tracks".

So I went to track 1, turned on record and tapped out my beat on Koala auv3's pads. Everything great.

But after recording, when I went to play it back and listen, I heard nothing but little blips...kind of like a clipping sound, in place of the kick and snare I'm supposed to be hearing.

Also, I did not have any tracks muted. I cannot figure out how to get my Koala tracks to be audible.
I don't know what to do. I scoured YouTube and Google and couldn't find an answer or solution. Can anyone help?

Are your samples in Koala marked as "one-shots"? If not, it may be that the notes recorded on the midi track may be short duration and so the sound is getting choked off.

If that changes things, but you don't want to set the samples to one-shot, then you'll need to stretch the notes.

[edit] It seems that the note duration isn't being sent to the tracks above track one. That seems like a Cubasis bug to me.

  • can you make a screen recording video and post it here to see if i can understand more clear the situation and probably help you out if i can, also if its a bug that it only relates to cubasis 3, it could also be a bug that belongs to cubasis and not koala, so you will have to reported to cubasis developers, because i use koala as auv3 all the time on Aum, NanoStudio2 and Drambo and right now im not having a problem using koala on those daw, and when i did had a bug issue in the past related to koala i when and mention it on the koalabeatcast channel on Facebook or on the official koala page on Discord and the developer answer right back, and fixed the problem in a few days, the developer is actually a very responsive developer and he cares about koala and the users too, which its a great thing about him, also if you write an email reporting the issue he will definitely answer back in a day or two with an answer of what can it be, and if the problem is related to koala he will fix the problem and after he do, he will definitely update the app with the issue resolved and fix !

You nailed it. Problem solved. Thank you!

Still, it seems like a Cubasis bug with multi-out AU's. If you do the same but have all the pads on the first channel, it works fine. It seems that Cubasis isn't passing the note duration to the sub-tracks.

I will reproduce the issue and make a screen recording of it later. It does sound like something maybe with the recent Cubasis 3.5 update. This, considering that I followed the instructions from this video to the letter. It seems to have been posted a week or two before the update.
