Brilliant idea: Phone + OSC + controller with endless knobs

Now that turns the MFT into a completely new tool. And OSC into something more tactile. I need to try this with my BeatStep. I found it always not so useful as a controller because it doesn’t display values. Great music, too.

Is that a Lemur template? Looks good!

The big question is: How do you get the parameter values of your current synth preset into the iPhone?

Yes, it’s a Midi Fighter Twister combined with a TouchOSC template that has acts as a display for it. For me it looks like the TouchOSC template has got 4 pages that corresponds to the four banks of the MFT. In this way you have visual feedback of the mapped parameter name and its value.

In my opinion this is a brilliant solution for the problem that I usually have that after some time I forget the meaning of the knobs that I mapped for a project or synth. Moreover this allows meaningful visual feedback for controllers without a LED ring around their endless knobs like the BeatStep.

Update: Now I understood that the TouchOSC is only a display for the controller. He mapped the controller to the synths directly without TouchOSC being in the middle.

Where did you get the template from? I thought I read all the comments but I didn’t notice it.

I think you won’t get the values into the display automatically without the knobs being previously touched. Maybe if a synth would transmit them on preset load. I think this is more useful for a performance where you have time to prepare your setup before you start playing.

Indeed. I can imagine to prepare just a few performance patches that actually send the correct values so everything is in its correct place after changing a preset. A nice job for Drambo when I think about it 😊

two people (yann+robfel) asked for the template. maybe you've missed the replies ☺️

I thought about Streambyter or Mozaic but Drambo is also a good idea, especially when using it with Drambo.
