Just installed the beta - can't seem to get midi out to work in AUM - loads in a midi channel (as an AU extension rather than a midi processor) and can connect to an instrument in an audio track, but no midi is passed...

Works as an AU instrument or standalone with the internal sounds but was hoping it would be able to feed into other synths...maybe this is on the roadmap - it's a very early release...

  • On the beta for this as well and it’s a lot of fun so far. Only tested for about an hour but I had a blast. Very simple but that’s a plus for me, imo. Especially when it comes to operating 3 different synths at once. I can see it being a welcome successor to ED. Wouldn’t mind a couple more parameters to get a little more experimental though. Maybe some FM options.

How are you connecting it to different synths? I can't see any options for midi out in the standalone and it's not working for me as a midi generator in AUM.

  • Tried restarts, reinstalls etc. App just opening dead both standalone and in aum, whether as midi or instrument auv3. Ipad Pro 3rd gen, ios 16.2

Yes - I'm getting similar issues on the same device - have reported to dev. I have been able to get it to load a couple of times but not seeing any midi out so I'm hoping this is coming in a future release. Will ask the dev.

  • Gutted, on iPhone it’s in landscape 🥲🤣

I've sent feedback already, but mine is not opening if I have Spotify running, and opening fine if I do. On iPhone, iOS 16.2. I'm looking forward to seeing how the app develops.

Just heard from Oliver the dev, and it's an AU instrument not a midi generator so although it can be loaded in a midi channel it can't drive other instruments in AUM and produces audio from the Internal oscillators. No feedback yet on the constant crashes.

This is what I've found - I can only reliably open Elastic Melody as a plugin in ApeMatrix. Weirdly, if I leave ApeMatrix open with the plugin loaded in an audio slot I can then load it in AUM and Audiobus - as soon as I close it it won't load in either of those. As soon as I close ApeMatrix the plugin crashes in AUM/Audiobus. Can anyone else confirm this - I'm on an ipad pro 3rd gen, iPadOS 16.2.

EDIT - to avoid any confusion this was reported to the dev before I posted here but he can't replicate the problem. I was only reaching out to you fine folks to see if anyone else was experiencing similar stuff. If you are, please feed back through Testflight.

  • Shouldn’t you all be reporting beta experiences with the developer and not here?

It is understood that apps in beta will have bugs and may undergo design changes in response to feedback. It can be a bit unfair to a developer to be discussing betas in a public forum like this, imo -- unless the developer indicated that this is how they want to receive feedback.

You are totally missing the point of this forum which is to serve as a therapy session to those who like to complain and kvetch.

Being able to chat with peers in the open can definitely be fruitful but probably best to make sure MoM is Ok with it

  • Yeah, agreed, but for somebody just glancing in, it might seem a little unfair to post "This thing lacks ESSENTIAL FEATURE X" when the app is truly in its early gestation. Hard to unsee that. But I'm not sure if MoM has a preferred forum or Discord or something.

  • Open beta is open beta. Nobody is dissing the dev. I've also reported via test flight but it's useful to report here to encourage others who have the same problems to report them.

I didn't see it being an open beta anywhere

  • Stoked. All his apps are fun and lately I’ve been using ED. IT JUST CAN MAKE STUFF CUT THROUGH THE MIX differently than other drum machines/ synths. Really excited about this.

See earlier in the thread where there was plenty of discussion about it. Open beta was announced on twitter with an email inviting anyone to join. Of course people wouldn't be making public comments here if it was a closed beta but as it is, they have every right to, without being judged by the morality police.

  • i’m seeing a lot of real estate in the gui, perhaps for additional features. i get that its intended as a modest tool, but thinking of the depth of ED i’m betting there’s more in store. interesting as it is. aa company piece to ED

  • So this is working now - what a lovely app. Brilliant, intuitive UI / UX, synth engine sounds fantastic, massive modulation possibilities, fantastic randomizer. I’m highly impressed!

Will not open in AUM or NanoStudio for me. Standalone works fine.

  • Hmm, opening fine in aum now for me.

I never saw the words 'open beta' or a public testflight link like with previous iOS open betas I was on. Just an email to apply. I still haven't got in. Not sure what you mean by morality police, I just genuinely was not under the impression it is an open beta.

Nope - still no go in AUM. To be honest it's a bit frustrating to report this every time a new beta lands and not get any follow up from the dev except once to say that he can't replicate it.

Ah yes, you're right actually, though I thought they would accept anyone who applied. That morality police comment was directed at Ed btw, not you.

The failure to load in AUM generates crash reports. I sent some to Oliver. It is the weekend now so I don’t expect to hear any response right away.

The failures in AUM don't generate crash reports for me - I've been feeding back 'manually' via Testflight. I'm glad other users are still seeing problems though.

    LOL. Very apt.
