Question for devs (or those in the know) about desktop-iOS porting and drag n drop
First issue here is that some desktop devs seem to think that importing audio via drag and drop is not possible
Second issue is that they then investigate when told this is possible, but report that the framework they are using to port does not support drag and drop.
So is there a framework for them that does support this?
Comments
If they are using JUCE then they just patiently have to wait until the framework gets support for the features they need...
Yes... My advice was to contact whatever framework dev they're using and ask them to get up to speed
@Gavinski, just curious, which apps do you (or do you envision) dragging from in most cases?
Well, Jesse, at the moment probably Samplecrate, as it seems to be a good solution for quickly demoing any wav file anywhere on the iPad, whether files app, Audioshare, or whatever
Personally I'd love to drag a midi-clip from Scaler 2 to something like Cubasis 3...
Some apps have hidden drag zones (Both Synthmaster 1 & 2 accept user-samples dragged to the oscillator waveform view).
Playbeat is one of the most desperately needed apps to implement something like this.
jason, of course you are perfectly right that no framework is needed. However most desktop devs are using frameworks like JUCE to port their desktop apps to iOS and this is unlikely to change. So if JUCE doesn't implement this, what to do? Do they need to instead avoid using JUCE completely, or just get JUCE to add this functionality to the JUCE framework, or are they able to add the drag and drop feature on to their JUCE app anyway, frankenstein's monster style, regardless of whether JUCE have implemented it?
