That’s a sad one to hear, rest in peace
Looks like 2023 picked up where 2022 left off. 😞 Rip to an amazing legend.
Damn. Unbelievable. That's a sad loss. Big love for Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Used to play the Deja Vu album over and over in my hippie teens. Looks like I'll be spinning it again in the coming week in rememberance. Fantastic vocal harmonies. The performance of On An Island with David Gilmour, Crosby and Nash was gorgeous.
Not a good start to the new year, mate 🙄😮💨
Despite advancing age, health and financial struggles, he really poured it on late in life, making the most of what time he had, and remaining a hard-working, creative force right to the end, and producing some of his best work. I love this CPR track. R.I.P. David Crosby.
Not at all. 😢
Totally agree! The stuff he did with the Snarky Puppy folks was some of the best work of his career. RIP David Crosby
So many of the greats 😩
Thank you, @Spidericemidas. This is new to me, however old it is. Just awesome. AWEsome. RIP.
What a great voice.
Rest In Peace
Ouch. I thought he was indestructible.
CSNY’s influence is everywhere.
I thought this form skewed older. Where are all the old guys in this thread?
I was lucky enough to play on a bill with CSN and I was able to watch their acoustic trio set from the wings of the stage. I had been a Stills fan for ages, but it was Crosby who blew my mind that night. He had the voice of an angel - it was magical. That was the moment that I truly understood why he was important.
If I had ever been here before I would probably know just what to do...
Gutted, I thought he’d go on forever. He’s left some beautiful music behind. I remember listening to the Deja Vu album that belonged to my sister way back when. I wore it out. It’s still in my top 10 albums.
Yowza, thanks for the Snarky Puppy vid, I’ve never seen it before.
This one of my favs:
So great at singing harmonies with others, and a great lead vocalist too. He certainly worked hard and played hard, and glad he didn’t become one of the casualties alongside some of his peers but lived a pretty long and fruitful life.
Sad that he’s gone.
Thanks for that video of Gilmour, Crosby & Nash. I must have been living under a rock all these years. I had never seen that one. Great harmonies! Fantastic video!
My CSNY album of choice was always Four Way Street. Not generally a fan of live albums, but that one…
There was a sonic richness to his altered + open acoustic guitar tunings.. plenty of open strings ringing out.. expanding the range of the acoustic guitar.. low notes that crossed into bass guitar territory.. intricate chords, beautiful + complex sounding yet many times very simple to play with only 1 or 2 fingers.. an absolute joy for the ear..
Crosby’s vocals, especially when paired with Graham Nash’s, were instantly recognizable + blended effortlessly when more voices were added to the mix.. a great vocalist + harmonist.. he loved to sing..
CSN (+ Y) had some of the best vocal harmonies you’ll ever hear.. unique + true to themselves..
He was a huge influence on my acoustic guitar playing.. those gorgeous tunings.. opened up a playground.. it’s why, to this day, I find regular tuning boring.. Thanks for opening my ears David..
You know, I almost cut my hair. Happened just the the other day.

Really needed that bit of negativity, thanks for that.
What negativity?
It was a balanced news story about a talented guy who had a lot of success and a few problems in his life.
That’s how I read it too. Definitely not an article I’d tag with ‘negativity’.
Not referring to the story.
OK.
My error.
