Random Breakbeat Generator :)
I experimented this morning with Drambo, Koala and Riffer to see if i can randomly play slices of drum loops in Koala.
In rambo i used a CV-sequencer, quantised in 16 steps on the y-axis, so it correspondent with 16 steps on the sample timeline in Koala.
I let Riffer do the sample selection work.
Maybe a nice setup to do something more experimental with it...
PS: Don't set the CV-sequencer to 100% on the y-axis, otherwise the sample get squashed to zero length.

Funny. I did the same (with Flexi instead of Koala) when AM Loopmix was released and I missed the intro price 😉
You guys should share the patch in AUM on Patchstorage. I’d be interested in looking at the setup.
This is really cool! Might give this a try myself.
Very interesting creation!
This is a cool recording.
Love this.
Would be interested in scoping this rack!

I shall explain how i set this up:
I have used 3 app's: Koala, Riffer and Drambo.
First, i have to decide at what tempo i should play. I chose 175 BPM.
Open up AUM, and setup Koala on a channel (AU)
In Koala i chose 5 D&B loops. They were all set to 2 bars. With the stretch function, you can exactly set the loop to 2 bars at the chosen BPM in AUM. What i did, is set the loop length with the stretch function, and bounce it (resample) In the settings menu, under MIDI, use midi-mapping. Look for the CC under Sample Start, and under what keys are the trigger buttons for the samples. You need this for Drambo and Riffer.
In Drambo use this setup:
The clock of the CV sequencer has te be linked with the LFO. The LFO waveform has to be set to square, so it generate a clock pulse for the sequencer. The midi-CC generator sinus-symbol has to be linked to the CV sequencer and the Trig-symbol to MIDI to CV. Midi Output linked to Midi CC-generator. LFO trigger symbol to MIDI to CV. Set CC in Midi CC Generator to the CC that assigned in Koala for the Sample start CC.
In Riffer set Q (Quantise) to 1/8. Set the Density range to to 5 keys (according to the amount of samples you use in Koala) and shift to the keys (right slider) corresponding to the keys used in Koala (sample trigger). Set the scale to Chomatic!. Eventually you can use Density for random note repeats.
Use the midi-routing as Below:
When setting up the CV-sequencer in Drambo, remember that you don't set the values of the graphic interface to max. The value of the graph correspondents to where the sample triggers on the timeline in Koala. You should leave a headroom for the sample length.
You can play with timings in Drambo with the LFO and CV Sequencer. If you set the Steps in the sequencer to an Odd value, you don't get a repetitive pattern.
You can also play with the quantise settings in Riffer.
This setup leaves room for experimentation
Try use other samples, like percussion. Its up to you.
Woah thank you so much for the in depth explanation! Next full day off I have I’m gonna give this a shot for sure. Sadly it’ll be a week from now but it’s something to look forward to haha.
And it does what I love most about iOS: how modular the environment is. Just routing things and seeing what works. Great thinking 🙏 and great timing because I’ve been wanting to get into using drum breaks a lot more. Maybe blend them with some classical piano to get experimental
Just absolutely wizard. I'm not too knowledgeable about breakbeats and chopping them up, let alone randomising chops, but you did a bloody ripper job well done.
