FAC Alteza in Ableton Live 11?

I have and love FAC Alteza on iOS.

I'm setting up plugins on my Ableton Live setup. I see Alteza in the App store for Mac, but it also doesn't mention Ableton Live in the list of compatible apps.

Can anyone confirm if it will load or not in Ableton Live 11?

  • I thought the FAC apps were separate purchases on the Mac App Store, maybe that’s an exception though?

They are. But they also list DAWs, and do not include Ableton. I'm hoping someone here might use it in Live, and be able to confirm it will work for me.

@mistercharlie might know. :) He uses Live.

Thanks. Good thinking. Hopefully, he'll show up here soon.

  • Is it AUv3? Or similar? If so, it should work. I will take a look in the morning

    Thanks @mistercharlie!

Yes, AUv3. I usually use mostly VST3s in Ableton, and am very new to Ableton also, so I'm a bit lost about this, and don't want to buy unless it's going to work.

Here's the Mac app store page:
    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/fac-alteza/id1502969376

    On Fred's site, it says:
AuV3 for iOS (iPad/iPhone) and macOS (sold separately)
On macOS, supported by: Logic Pro X, GarageBand, HostingAU, Reaper & Wotja

  • Most audio auv3 now work in ableton from my experience. MIDI ones don’t seem to be able to be used though, no output channel for them is created

  • The auv3 should work then, but only in Live 11, on an Apple Silicon Mac.

    Mine is a 2020 Intel i5.

I might be mistaken but I believe the FAC Mac offerings are AU (not auv3) so they should work with Mac DAWs. Worst case scenario you could get a refund if it doesn’t work out

Edit: The Mac FAC apps should also work with non silicon macs I believe. So your mac should work. I was able to use an FAC plugin prior to silicon on Mac

Update: I bought FAC Alteza in the Mac App store just now, and it's up and running in Live 11 on my Intel MacBook Pro. Hurray!

Congrats! And the good news is also that, if one day you decide to use a dual platform app like MTS MultiTrackStudio or ZenBeats, the FAC plugins will retain their settings going from iPad to Mac (or vice versa).
