iPad: Preferred Choice for Mastering
https://benmontgomery.bandcamp.com/album/in-directions
I recently finished this Electronica album (free link above), created mostly in Logic and Ableton, though I used the Korg Mono/Poly app and a few other iPad instruments as well. One track actually began in Korg Electribe Wave groove box app! ( Oceanliner ). The only hardware synth is an MS-20 mini.
Though I do everything myself these days, I still enjoy Mastering as a separate step, even in its simplest form of trying out EQ and Compression on the final mixes. I'd been spending time with these apps on various iPad jams, so I figured being comfortable with the tools you have is worth something. Maybe not as much as a Pro Mastering job
I created 10 duplicated strips in AUM, then adjusted the settings over a couple days, tested my sanity on https://www.loudnesspenalty.com and that's about it. It was sort of the most reasonable and least superstitious about Mastering i've felt yet.

Congratulations on your new album.
In Directions is very nice, lovely vocals, and I love the guitar track and solo!!!
Thank you.

@ReneAsologuitar Thanks for the kind words!
I'll give the album a full listen later. After skimming through the tracks, I'll say the mastering you did is very well done, and the music sounds excellent too both production-wise and creatively.
I also happen to use AUM to master my EPs. These days, I use MagicDeathEyeStereo and Barricade and don't bother much with EQing. I also love using RX950 before MDES to add a bit of crunch to the sound. If I'm shooting for a truly Lofi sound, I'll stick Lo-Fi-AF between MDES and Barricade to add tape warble and either vinyl crackle or tape noise (although on my 8-bit Fantasies EP, I opted for the cellphone noises instead).
The way I test the loudness of any given track is by using Youlean's Loudness Meter. Even though Barricade has its own meter, I've found that Youlean's Meter helps get me better results at matching volumes and making sure to get all my tracks within -15 to -14 LuFS. I use this in conjunction with my ears, and I master my tracks with the volume turned down so to hear what I'm doing better. Another trick is to have the output of whatever limiter you use turned to -0.3dB so that when compressing the audio to .m4a or .mp3 format, there aren't any unwanted artifacts (unless that's what you're shooting for).
Cheers mate and all the best.
@jwmmakerofmusic Great response, I forgot this time about dipping the DBs before possible mp3 compression, but I didn't notice particular clipping, and I may not have actually hit 0DB in the wavs. I'm not going back to check!!!! Maybe squeezed electronica music was forgiving enough material this time. I have the free Youlean plugin, but I got overwhelmed a bit with all the numbers, hence using the LUFs readout from that website. Appreciate you taking the time to check out my post, take care!
