Korg nanokontrol studio & Korg gadget 2

Hello! Question to users of Korg nanokontrol studio. When connected to a Korg gadget 2 on ipad in native mode, the Scene, Marker, Track buttons, and the big wheel do not work. As I understand it, this controller was originally created for the Korg gadget and all these functions should work. Or am I wrong? I may be wrong. I'm new in this business.

Comments

  • You're right. Native mode is a bit limited and the controller is a general use MIDI controller as well. I've used it for other DAWs and even VJ software.

  • There’s a good Sonic State video where Gaz uses the Nano controllers, it might help.

Thanks a lot! I already thought it was a marriage) And how can it be easily and quickly checked for performance?

Thanks a lot! Haven't seen these videos. I'll definitely look.

  • Not all features work in Gadget — it has more to do with the limitations of Gadget than it does with the controller. The jog wheel and markers work perfectly in Ableton Live and, I assume, other “full-size” DAWs, but Gadget doesn’t offer scrubbing or marker functionality and Korg didn’t map the controllers to different functions.

Yes, I already understood this by watching the video on YouTube, which I was advised here. But for some reason, the Select buttons also do not work for me and do not glow in the gadget. Perhaps it depends on the firmware or some settings.

  • I know in the past, any time Apple put out a new iOS/iPadOS, Nanokontrol Studio often wouldn’t work at all until Korg released an update. I ended up getting rid of mine because it would take months for Korg to update.

Well, you got rid of it, but I just bought it😁 Let it stay with me for now) It's normal for a beginner))

Are you using Bluetooth or USB connection? MIDI Clock synchronization only works over USB.

When using USB you have to set the NKS to use external clock by hooking it up to a PC or Mac and using the Korg Kontrol Editor if the NKS isn't already in that mode.

Unfortunately for bluetooth. it's a pitty it's impossible. But I hope your advice will be useful to me in the future. Thank you very much!

And if with an iPad via usb? Is it possible?

To change the NKS configuration? Unfortunately no. Korg hasn't provided a settings editor for iOS.

To sync the arp? Via USB, yes it is possible, just not over Bluetooth.

  • Set up via usb through a computer and then connect via usb to the ipad. so it is possible?
