Can Scaler2 detect audio entering via USB on iPad?

I added Scaler 2 as an AU inside Loopy Pro. I have digitized audio coming in over USB, I can see it as a Loopy Pro input (not mic), and can record that audio in Loopy Pro. But I cannot figure out how to “route” that audio to the Scaler2 AU so it will Detect that music and its chords.

(I have the same question for using Scaler2 standalone).

Thanks!

Can you post a screenshot of the way you have it set up? It sounds like you maybe loaded it as an instrument rather than an effect. if you want something to receive audio, you load it as an effect.

  • Thank you, @espiegel123 -- I did have it loaded as an instrument. Just redid as an effect and that works fine.

Is there a way to do this with Scaler 2 standalone?> @espiegel123 said:

  • No idea. I don't have Scaler. Does it work as an IAA effect?

  • Don't know how to test IAA, but thanks for the help!

Out of curiosity, what would you gain by running it standalone?

    Just less setup

Trying to connect a standalone app to other apps and controllers is probably more work…particularly since configurations of standalone apps will likely need to have their settings re-done every time. If you save an AUv3 setup, all the settings and connections get restored.

  • You're right, of course! Thanks
