K-Devices MAGMA Video Demo (Giveaway: 5 Copies of ANY K-Devices iOS app - See Pinned YT Comment)
I have 5 copies of ANY K-Devices iOS app to give away. See the pinned YouTube comment for details.
Magma is an interesting and unusual FX app capable of some pretty cool sound manipulation. It can give sounds a granular quality, it can serve as a kind of reverb, it allows you to play with pitch, it can create rhythmic wind-like sounds, apply distortion and more. The main parameters are described in the pinned YouTube comment which also has a link to the AppStore as well as containing the AppStore description, specs etc.
Enjoy, and please support my work by not watching behind an ad-blocker, thank you 🙏

That's a really creepy sounding track. Love it.
Thanks a lot, I was just listening back to it a few mins ago, really spooky cinematic vibes! This fx is brilliant for horror soundtrack fodder I reckon!
Getting big style silent horror movie vibes from your piece, @Gavinski. Excellent work! Would’ve been a shoo-in for the Vampyr project… Love the ‘possessed wind’ dives. And I clearly second that emotion. Snagged it asap, used it on my latest. Interesting stuff…
Cheers Irena! Yes, this app could very likely make its way into Metropolis soundtrack. Jeez it's been a hell of a week for excellent fx apps. Looking forward to checking out your piece later today. Was watching The Haunted Palace last night BTW, fun!
Oh btw folks, here are the links to the twitter and insta giveaways;

Chances of winning on either of these are much higher than YT 👍
@Gavinski : Ah, Vincy baby! I have loved Vincent Price all my life, what a great, camp, actor he was, and apparently a nice man in real life. Also, fun fact: superb cook.
And The Haunted Palace: a snatched few lines from a Poe poem the justification to hang off a version of Lovecraft’s Case of Charles Dexter Ward. So: Vincent Price, Poe, and Lovecraft together at last! Chance that I would know, own, love this film? Pretty damn high…
Still got soft spots for his vocal turn on Alice Cooper’s Black Widow: (pace @ReneAsologuitar, but this was my Seventies songbook! ):
seminal folk horror Witchfinder General, naturally, (set, as the historical events it depicts, in my witch-haunted home county) pushed in it to a great, serious turn by the wunderkind director Michael Reeves; the Dr Phibes movies, of course, but my fave of all of his remains the one that turned me as a child simultaneously on to Poe and Price both, Corman’s Masque Of The Red Death. I saw the movie, and got Tales of Mystery and Imagination the following day. Mind blown. Not exaggerating to say that movie set me on my life’s course of fascination with all things dark and dangerous…
I'll have to check sole6of those out, cheers! The Haunted Palace has its moments but is more fun and silly than anything remotely profound. If you haven't seen it yet and want to check out a truly excellent horror / indie coming-of-age movie / road movie, I really think you would love 'Bones and All'.
Anyway!

Final word about Magma. I really like it, but skip the presets, read the (very brief) manual and learn to dial in your own sounds. A cool and unique addition to the iOS experimental fx cannon 👍
The app feels half-baked…unfinished. Some fun to be had for 3 bucks though
What would you add / change? These 'Totem' apps are supposed to be a little bit simpler than K-Devices regular offerings, in the same way as the Audiothing 'Things' and series of apps, so I don't mind that it's relatively simple. Yeah if it was 20 bucks I'd mind but not at this price!
@Svetlovska Masque OTRD is a masterpiece. I’d add The Tomb of Ligeia and Theatre of Blood to the list of essential Vincent Price movies.
@Gavinski : yep, Bones and All is on the list, despite my visceral antipathy to Timothee Chalamet, based on nothing more than his youth, beauty, and stupid spelling of Timothy.
@scrape : Indeed! I think there are few of his I haven’t seen. He did a good job in the first filmed version of Richard Matheson’s I Am Legend, for example, his one called Last Man On Earth, (later also filmed as The Omega Man (best film version, to be fair) and the disappointing I Am Legend, of course.)
All the lurid Corman/Poe/Price takes were excellent. Witchfinder, though not without its longueurs, stays in the mind through the strength of his performance, where he was persuaded by the young director to dial down his usual style, and deliver a performance of genuine cold menace and cruelty. At one point, apparently irritated by Reeves constant notes on his delivery, he reportedly said: "Young man, I've made eighty-four films. What have you done?" Reeves replied "I've made three good ones".
