Question about stereo recording
I have a cassette deck with a left and right output and wanted to record both channels. I have a presonus with two inputs so if I ran both channels from the tape player to those inputs and I wanted to record in stereo, would I put one channel as the mid and the other as the side? I’ve seen people say to pan each channel but I’m not sure if that’s the proper way and mid/side seems to make more sense

No, record L+R as left and right.
Why would you want to convert L/R to M/S on the way?
It's the job of your audio recorder or DAW to provide a stereo channel for recording the two channels from the interface.
I just don’t know much about L/R M/S as it is so I wasn’t sure. Thanks though! It makes more sense to me now
