Can't change buffer in AUM

I've had AUM for a few years but just started using it last week. It's great and enjoying it much better than apeMatrix. However, I've got a latency issue with one channel of external audio, a Roland Aerophone wind synth. There's noticeable latency. No issues with another external audio input, used for a Mellotron. When I try to set the buffer size in AUM, I can't change it away from 1024. I keep getting the following message: "Could not set buffer size. The buffer size is probably currently controlled by another running application."

I have quit every app and done a hard reset multiple time. I've also gone in and changed the buffer size in apeMatrix and Cubasis 3, the only other hosts I use. I don't have this latency issue with either of those. Still can't change AUM's buffer size. I'm using a 2022 iPad Pro running iOS 16.3.

    Turn off Siri. There is a recent iOS bug that locks the buffer size when Siri is on
