Twang / Cubasis3
This was a big project. 25 tracks and ten minutes long. Divided in two parts, the first half uses all plugins. The second all Cubasis instruments save the lead NOISE line and MidEast Drummer audio track.
It took several days, which is intense for me. I first constructed the ostinato line using Thumbjam cello. At midpoint I did a trial mixdown. Total disaster. No way I could get it to work. Seeking the answer I tried freezing tracks and noticed TJ cello would not freeze down correctly. I substituted a PureSynthPlatinum cello and it worked perfectly. And I discovered, with some EQing, that the PSP cello was as good as the vaunted Thumbjam. This proved beyond doubt for me that if CB3 malfunctions, it is most likely a problem with a plugin.
For someone like me, who wants the old analog feel of recording, I cannot envision a better tool for music production than Cubasis3. When I think I bought this for $34 on sale, it is nothing short of miraculous for my purposes.
I hope you like this track. It will make the effort all the more worthwhile. Thanks for listening!

I love there artwork, nice pick!!!
Wow, 10 minutes, and the cello sounds great.
Also love the vibrant percussions towards the 2nd half of the recording.
Love this recording, once more, truly enjoyable musical experience.

I hate when that happens. I have had the same experience with all Crudebyte apps. They don’t freeze and I switch to something else. I like the cello part. It reminds me of the dude who lived next door to me in college. He was a music major and immensely talented. He would come over and jam along to Stanley Clarke, Journey To Love. I played my fretless. We would do a few bowls. It was fun.
BTW, did I do something to piss you off? You haven’t weighed in on any of my recent posts.
Thanks for the comments @ReneAsologuitar and @Paulieworld!
Beautiful piece of music!
I love it @LinearLineman! Epic, I feel like having seen a complete movie in 10 minutes 😍
Thanks @piano39 @Jer4.
@Stochastically this track was originally called Silk Road. You hooked the vibe.
Much enjoyed this. The form, the mix of traditional instruments and analog synths, some prog, some world music, a low-end that kicks, great production. I’m going to keep it as a mix reference.
Have to smile about it taking several days to produce - perhaps only someone so prolific might think that was excessive?
Have to say that for me it would be a rare iOS music project where a chunk of time was not spent identifying / working around a bug but that’s part of the fun - I (mostly) get as much from the journey as arriving.
Hope you’ll be sharing more like this.
Nice to hear from you @AndyHoneybone. Thanks for the praise. My stuff is usually pretty simply and repetitively produced produced so not much room for glitches. Cubasis has also gotten increasingly bug free, so those problems are gone. Mostly the time is spent looking for the right instrument palette and mixing them in and out. Creating the actual content takes from 10-30 minutes, thanks to the gods of improvisation.
