Using mouse with Ipad and having problems with Bassalicious2, Splat-to-clat, and Toneboostes EQ

I’m using a bluetooth mouse with my ipad. Whenever I open Bassalicious or Splat to clat I have to click multiple times to open the drop down menus. Also, if I just use my finger and try to do the same thing I have to hit it multiple times. I turned off assistive touch and they work fine with my finger. And when I use Toneboosters EQ and try to control the eq points with my mouse it goes all over the place and is unusable. My guess is that there is some option I need to turn off or on under assistive touch. Does any have any ideas?

  • I use a BT mouse sometimes, but I haven’t recently, and I only have TB EQ out of those 3, at least for now, lol, I got splat on my wish list.

First You can try to disconnect and forget this device, from the iDevice you are using. Then reconnect the mouse as if it was the first time. This is the Bluetooth equivalent of turning your device off and back on, which is also standard procedure in early troubleshooting. This might solve it.

Does this only happen when using the apps in AU?
Does it happen when using them in standalone?
Is it only these 3 apps?

It could be a few things, but if it’s only these 3 apps, maybe some minor issue, with the apps, 2 are by the same developer so maybe some Bluetooth optimization issue. I believe apps need to be specifically optimized to use different devices like a PS5 controller or an Apple Pencil. Im not sure how all that works really…

Is your iOS up to date? Not updating can cause different weird glitches and odd behaviors. I’ve had a few weird things recently but they were fixed with each successive update. I’d try things I mentioned above first, then try Au and standalone, then try other apps by same developer, try to narrow it down.

It happens in both stand alone and AU. The developer seemed to suggest it’s on my end because no one has ever complained about it.

  • Well it could be but seems the door is still open to several possibilities. Maybe something with the mouse, do mouses have firmware? Anyone? How old is the mouse?

I’m guessing you did the BT forget this device and reconnected it?

Is that the only Bluetooth device connected when having problems?

    What iOS are you on?

Does it happen with any other apps?

If it were me I’d try to Eliminate some possibilities, by doing some troubleshooting. Try using it with other apps, other apps by same developer, try a different mouse if you have one, try a different device if you have one, make sure iOS is updated, etc… each of those steps will give you an answer to help uncover where the issue is occurring. Since theres several layers it’s important to narrow down the cause of the issue as much as possible.

  • It’s a Pepple i345 mouse. About a year old.
    I did try the reconnect.
Yes only when I use the mouse. Apple pencil works fine and if I turn off my assistive touch that you have to have for a mouse then the apps work properly.
    Latest version of ios.
All other apps work fine and even one of Gospel Musician apps works fine, but the other two I mentioned don’t.

  • Huh. This is a weird one. did you write to the other developer as well. The second of the two? If I get some time I’ll have to test it with TB EQ, and something like Pure Synth Platinum.

Can anyone else that has/uses a BT mouse and splat to Clat or Bassalicious give this a go?

Sorry, Wish I could provide a better answer…

  • I just tested with my cheapo Bluetooth mouse. No problems with Bassalicious 2 standalone and AUv3 and no problems with Tonebusters Equalizer.

Check the battery for the mouse.

Update - I was able to introduce some difficulty with Bassalicious 2 menus after turning the mouse off and back on. Only the mouse is affected though, not touch. TB EQ not affected.

Quick update. Toneboosters is now working in AU and Stand alone. I don’t know what changed but it works perfect. As for Bassalicious, I can just use it inside Pure Synth, so I’m not worried about it. Splat to clat on the other hand, I guess I’ll jus have to get used to it. lol

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I appreciate it. Basically it’s jus Splat to Clat that is a problem I guess.

Well I guess I was wrong. TB Eq isn’t working. I didn’t realize that I had turned off assistive touch when I checked it. For some reason when you have that on, which you really need to optimize the use of a mouse, it doesn’t work correctly. Any suggestions are welcome. I did put in a email to them to see if they knew why this was happening.
