“Father” - melodic GarageBand IOS track, based on some Piano Motifs.
Whilst Lucy has the week off, here’s an instrumental created this weekend, dedicated to my Dad, who I miss more each year, since he died 20 years ago.
Started off with generating G major Piano Motifs, spent an hour and saved the best 15 and brought them into GarageBand IOS. Then divided them into what I thought would be verse, chorus, and middle/end - and the picked a favourite from each one
Then spent time creating some leads and pad/strings and getting the structure right. Even though it’s a major chord tune, the verse is quite melancholic, but the end is more uplifting.
I’ve left chord/melody space for doing a vocal on this track, but I thought I’d release it as I think as an instrumental it stands up ok.

I agree with @Paulieworld that this sounds quite uplifting rather than melancholic. I like the arrangement and the melodies. It all fits together very well.
I miss my father too. He died on my birthday a few years ago now but it is always a day of mixed emotions now.
Now we only need a mother and maybe a daughter song to complete the family

Sounds great! And a perfect fit musically. I lost my grandma (who raised me) in 2021, and you’re right, I miss her more and more all the time. My condolences 🤝
