Mellowsound app latest update breaks auv3 saved state (Problem Fixed)

edited February 2023 in General App Discussion

Can anyone verify something for me. I just updated to the latest version of the Mellowsound app today and now it no longer works as an auv3. I use this app all the time and never have problems but now any project I have with it on there, it will not work. It doesn’t load the auv3 at all. Anyone who has this app, can you please verify if you’re having trouble? If so, will you please contact the developer? I’m using it in Beatmaker 3 and I use the Mellowsound app on lots of my projects, many times with multiple instances and it’s always worked perfect. I was working on a project today and it worked perfect before the update. I contacted the developer , but I’d like for multiple people to contact them and let them know, so they’ll fix it fast, as this is one of my go to apps.

Thanks in advance.

For the record I’m using an iPad Pro 12.9 gen 2 with the latest version of iOS and Beatmaker 3.

Updated info: I created a new instance of the app and it works, so to clarify it’s just not loading is auv3 saved state on projects that it was used in and saved. So it does work, but it’s not loading up on older projects.

  • @Brad Does it not load at all in the old projects? This may indicate that the dev changed the AUv3 AudioComponentDescription identifier. iOS devs have often used all lower-case letters for this, but MacOS requires at least one capital, so devs have been making changes for compatibility with M1 Macs. Some, like KQ Dixie, have found a way to preserve the old ID while adding a new one. You could try asking the dev about this.

No it doesn’t load at all. The good news is that they contacted me back and said they would fix it and to expect an update in a couple of days. Now that to me is great customer service!

  • I can get it to load and work correctly in AUM. I can also get it to load in apeMatrix but the app won't produce any sound. Glad to hear an update is coming.

  • Fingerlab contacted me this morning to let me know they have provided a new update and fixed the app. I tested it out and all is well.

Maybe change your thread title to include the words "Problem Solved!" or "FIXED".
