Good job! It also saves any custom presets you’ve made.
So FLSM 4 has finally caught up with FLSM 2 ;]
This is not new. Just informing new users.
I dismissed FLSM for a long time because it doesn't have AUv3.
So everything is new to me, and I think this (and a lot of other) feature are wonderful!
Why a like from the top of my mind:
In general it just works, but it doesn't have external fx or instruments.
But this feature, being able to save everthing and work from a self contained file is just chef kiss
MIDI editing is among the best (including ghost notes).
Does anyone know how to adjust the cycle point on midi clips, so that when I drag the end to make it repeat, it repeats where I want to? I always find myself recording a loop, then going to drag it for multiple repeats only to discover that the cycle point is like twice as long as the loop I actually recorded and therefore looping with a bunch of blank space and this is super annoying. Really this is the only thing keeping me from using it regularly at this point. Not sure why this should be such a pain
There must be notes recorded after your desired loop point or a note carries over the bar line. Double-tap on the clip or tap and choose edit to see what is there.
I don’t get it. Why would I want extra notes?
What is the snap set to? If it's set to Bars then that could maybe explain it.
There is something that is past your desired loop point, either a stray note or a note that carries over the bar line. Put up a screen shot of the contents of the clip in question (enter edit mode) for an answer. It’s most likely something you are doing, not an issue with FLSM.
Or you can DM me the project.
@anickt oh I understand now, thank you!
It’s confusing at the beginning but that “auto fill” to the bar is super useful after you get the hang of it
😎👍🏼
New version has a new waveshaper fx
I’ve always been interested in FLSM. Seems pretty sleek and fun to mess around in. I know it doesn’t support AUs (I think it supports IAA though?) but how do the stock synths, drum, and effects sound? Is there enough there to justify it not supporting AUV3?
FLSM is one of those apps you either love or you hate. It’s really hard to answer that question for another person. I never use it. But I can appreciate it now. It didn’t always use to be that way for me until the last few years. A lot of people really like it now.
It does seem to have been pretty polarizing. I used an old copy many years ago but only briefly. I like the look of the UI on the iOS version though. It’s the last thing I need right now anyway lol plus it seems to go on sale every so often.
I use it mainly with samples, but the synths are capable, it has the full implementation of the desktop version 3xOSC, and there are thousands of presets on the web.
The sampler also accept the "big brother" files, so there you have another hundred multisampled instruments.
It does support IAA
I love the 3xOSC and was so happy to see it appear. The desktop version in Fruity Loops, as it was called then, was my first intro into synthesizers. I still like some of the patches I managed to make with it back the previous century (late 1999). The FLSM version sounds great.
I've tried in every modular environment I come across to make a 3xOSC clone. It's not practical in many, and when I can recreate it, the result never sounds near as good.
Now if they just add Slicex. 😎
How's the IAA support these days? I gave up on it at least a half dozen times over the years due to bugginess. I haven't tried again for at least two years though, so I'm curious if its any better.
Thanks. Would you say you use it often? Does it do anything to samples that other apps don’t or is it purely a workflow/UI type thing for you? Sorry, I’m just genuinely curious about this one and it doesn’t get brought up here often.
@wim it's not very stable, I use it mostly to send midi modulation from AUM or if I want to apply a master FX
I think it comes basically to UI, it really really feels that is made for touch interfaces first, there are a lot of tiny UI details that are awesome.
I don't use it to track vocals tho, for that I prefer Garage Band lol
Thanks. Yeh, limited use, such as feeding the sampler, is as far as I trusted it in the past. Sounds like it's still the case. I'm happier with FLSM if I think of it as a self-contained thing, like Gadget or GR-16, and don't try to combine it with other apps. 👍🏼
Oh there is something on the drum sampler that I really like: you can browse your samples "live" so it's super fun and quick to make a drumkit.
It fits how I work, select a hat, select a kick, select a snare and start experimenting. It's kinda like GrooveRider in that aspect
Another thing that super dope is that you can ha many layers of midi in the same instrument, so you can stack patterns, super useful for drums
Also one channel can have multiple synths, so you can also stack sounds... it's a very special software, it has nothing in common with desktop FL lol
Oh that’s pretty cool, thanks! If it ever has a really nice sale I may pick it up to give it a shot. I like having various workflows to keep things fresh and exciting.
