Session Recordings not saving? Am I doing something wrong?

edited February 2023 in Loopy Pro

Hello. Great app… was working perfectly before.

I did a few recordings today and went to send them through AudioShare to my PC and none of them were there when I went to recordings in the files, nor were in the iPad file system. This hasn’t happened before.

I reopened LoopyPro and I saw a series of 6-7 new “recovered session recording” folders dated today at the times I made the recordings, and there is no usable audio file in there saying it has to be opened on a computer. The jams were like 10 minutes long and would be more than the 28 byte files in those folders. I am quite confused because it worked fine before, and simply output a wav or aiff file that I could listen to right away.

  • Just to get the obvious out of the way: are you looking in the right spot - if you were using LP as an AUv3 then it’ll be in the “Audio Unit Extensions” folder, rather than the main documents folder.

Also, do you have enough spare disk space on the iPad?

Was using LP standalone. I have 6GB free storage out of 64GB.

I tried a few 10 second recordings and it kept saving them as Recovered Session Recording folders.

I will try accessing those on my computer anyway

  • How odd! This is 1.0.39? What settings do you have selected in the recording pop up?

I agree odd. 1.0.39. I left input and output combined default, and all defaults. I tried lossless and non, as well as triggering recording without play activated and with (which shouldn’t matter).

Ultimately I think it’s probably some quirk with the iPad file system and overall design and presentation at the moment, which is convoluted and leaves very, very much to be desired. Could have to do with permissions or some garbage with Siri. I have no idea.

No big deal though, usually these weird things oddly just go away. Mostly been using Loopy the same way I use AUM just recording MiRack stuff for chopping up so it’s not a big deal at all. Makes you appreciate how improvisational LoopyPro is though compared to most anything else. I want it to work now!

whatever way thanks for the app, it’s awesome. I’m not worried with all the stuff I have to do, there is no rush and look forward to sing it more going forward.

  • Hmm. That's pretty baffling! This the first time in a year I've heard of any issue with session recording (aside from when it's left recording in someone's bag, when they forgot to stop it!).

    Uummm.. reboot maybe? Exorcism?

have you rebooted your iPad since then? maybe the file system crashed?
