Warp vs Timestretch

Some apps and Daws say they have timestretch, some say they have warp, some say they have both. What is the difference between the two?

Warp usually means you can set markers in a clip that determine precise points in time. When the time-stretching is done they use the markers to optimize the time-stretching in a way that can preserve transients and line things up better than a simple timestretch.

  • So…what app has real warp?

Auria Pro. Neon has it but in my opinion Auria’s is better.

I am not sure if there are other iOS apps with it.

    Audio Evolution has it too.

    Ah, that makes sense. Thanks!

  • And most companies are using the same time-stretching algorithm from Zynaptiq, even the ones that call it Warping.

You mean better quality or better Ito use?

    Quality

I guess you meant zplane (as integrated quasi standard in daws)? But nonetheless, zynaptiq has a lot of voodoo magic in their hats (even toptier timestretching). Btw a sale (with weekly changing offers) from zynaptiq is running at the moment…

  • Doh, wrong Z company, yes I meant Z-Plane, thanks for the correction.

  • No, problem. I know that for sure :#
But I somehow find the bonbon GUI much more attractive and prefer it over the bourgeoise surface of z-Plane Plugins. But the „brain“ behind is balanced, maybe with an advantage for z-Plane at pitch-shifting and time-stretching :)
