I would pay a lot of money for a modern version the AN2015 synth hidden in Yamaha’s weird synthbook
If any devs are bored or looking for something to do…
Or if Yamaha wants to ramp up it’s iOS apps in the 2020’s
Make a standalone auv3 of this amazing synth app.
Everything is so good about it! The mod ball thing, the chord library, the arp, the sounds…
Soooo good… So fun… So abandoned…🥺

Here you go

But you need to connect it to a specific keyboard to fully unlock it.
Totally agree.
I mean in 2023 we have Scaler 2 and synth apps that arguably sound better but…
I love AN2015, it just slays for what it does. I feel like Yamaha never really progressed with it because it makes more sense to monetise the AN engine in other products.
I would jump on that synth (the way I haven't jumped on Twin 3, yet).
I find it quite weird the that Yamaha hasn't included the AN (or VL) engine in current line of workstations they have available (Montage and MODX) and the reFace CS while built in top of the AN engine only has a couple of features implemented.
While I still do have the SW1000XG (PCI-Card) and PLG-150AN card (5 voice AN engine) I have no computer to use it with...
(The drivers Require either a Win2X or XP PC or a Mac running MacOS 9).
Time will tell where things go but for now I have no higher hopes on seeing further iOS app development from Yamaha.
With that said I would love to see a multi-timbral XG AUv3 module, an un-leached (ie. not crippled with all instances using the same preset) FM Essentials without the need to 'unlock' it using a soon to be extinct keyboard as well as an AU version of the AN Synth).
How much, exactly?
higher than the average music ios app.
How much higher, exactly?
Quite a few years ago I sold my VL70m, having had it sit dormant for nearly two decades
In the end I realised that the sounds it made were not sufficiently distinctive that anyone ever noticed it as being special in any way that a Korg 05R/W could make (which I also had at the time back then, or these days on the iPad now: iM1 or any rompler with sufficient variations available as controls)
Basically, although I personally was enthused at the synthesis method, it went unnoticed in the final output
