Wait for Logic to drop for iPad and keep the fingers crossed it also include the Auto Sampler (which is based on samplerobot).
Virsyns AudioLayer also does a pretty good job of auto-sampling instruments when needed...

And that is partly why I treat the iPad mostly as a 'sound module & sketch pad'
Even if we would get something like Sample Robot for the iPad we'd still have to struggle with the memory-limitations of AUv3s and other issues which are yet to be solved...
I think there are always workarounds, but certainly the ram limits piss me off when using things like Decent Sampler

I roundly hate the interface for building or tweaking anything, but the auto sampler takes most of that pain away. And it uses disk streaming to minimize the ram problem.
