Dear lord, this is clearly priced to appeal to the Kanye / Drake etcs out there:
For now, there are three limited edition Beat Machine models:
A unique Special Edition will be up for auction soon
Four Beat Machine Off Grid models are priced at $11,999 each
A run of 20 Beat Machines for $9,999 each
I’ve got a feeling these are for public spaces, fancy bars or rooms in clubs, maybe the odd high value individual, but I presume that’s what the arcade machine nature of it is…
Looks like they hired the marketing guy from Teenage Engineering.
Hahahahahaa
I mean, I’m all for the trend in standing desks, but jeez I’d much rather lie on my bed or sofa while making music. This is sheer insanity to me. The demo video also sucks balls big time. Sorry to be harsh, but I guess I’m channeling my inner @oat_phipps today
I have a lot of respect for Tim Endlesss, and the Endlesss project in general, but not for this demo. The whole focus is on the very mediocre rap, it gives no idea whatsoever of what the Beat Machine can do and why you’d want to pay 10 grand for it
This is exactly correct. I browsed their info about it and it was pretty clear this is for public spaces. And with that in mind, I think it’s pretty awesome. We have a lot of arcade bars in my area and I’d be over the moon if something like this showed up in one of them. So no, I do not believe they are marketing this towards bedroom producers, they have the app for that.
would be a lot of fun in the studio lobby . the main studio i work out of , has 3, sometimes up to 5 rooms going at the same time. Would be awesome to just hop out to grab a water, add a kick or something, and leave it up for the next person to walk by and add something. just something silly and fun. im going to bring this up to the studio owner.
Wait.. it’s real?
They did all that building that thing and it makes “beats” (music?) that sounds like something someone would make using Koala for the first time.
Come on, it’s as good as the person using it. I’ve made some pretty great music in Endlesss if I do say so myself and I could do it on that arcade machine too…if I could afford one!
Agreed. For that use case, it’s actually really freaking cool.
True, could see that as pretty cool actually
I think a good few of the last couple of generations of producers have cut their teeth on PlayStation equivalent of this sort of thing as well, and if it is for public spaces, that’s about the ball park figure any sort of new arcade game would cost…
