Roland Sound Canvas (MIDI game music) apps?
Hey there, I am very much into old FPS games lately and was wondering if there are soft versions of those old sound canvas units on iPad to recreate some of the sounds in games like Doom or Duke Nukem? So far, I only spotted Saga Synth.

Roland used to have the SoundCanvas app for iOS available...

(Here's a super old video from @thesoundtestroom on the Roland Sound Canvas for iOS).
We can always try to grab @MatthewAtZenbeats attention in hopes that Roland will bring it back SoundCanvas to iPadOS.
Sure we have do sound-font players various sound font libraries available that can substitute some but not all with 100% GM/GS accuracy.
Yes I found old material of that app. However sadly it is no longer around. Has no one yet filled that void?
Another one that may be worth looking at

Thank you, I will check it out
Does it have AUV3?
Roland sound canvas as a auv3 would be amazing. I still pull up the app and sample from it for certain sounds
This is the AUv3 instrument: bs-16i

Did Roland Sound Canvas go away with the 32bit to 64bit transition (iOS11)?
Nope, it still works fine on iPadOS16 and can be re-downloaded from the Purchase history.
Technically it's an old IAA app and has to be launched prior to connecting it with other apps and does sometimes play out of tune on 48k only devices unless connected to an audio-interface that is capable of 44.1k.
Why Roland removed it is not known. Maybe Roland swapped the old and contracted a new software team for iOS and the new team decided it's not worth to maintain it but that's pure speculation on my part...
bs-16i is a good choice.
Haven't tried the JAX, but it's probably good.
Korg Module has a General Midi pack.
Korg M1 covers similar sonic territory. PureSynth Platinum might have a few sounds you'd be interested in.
As mentioned, I think you are looking for a Soundfont player. Personally I really like KQ Sampei https://apps.apple.com/nl/app/kq-sampei/id1626784865
For soundfonts, have a look at https://musical-artifacts.com/
You are right Jason, your app is a very good general midi module, i like it a lot. I first thought the OP wanted to compose music with samples from the original games, but that is probably not the case.
