Recording iPhone/iPad into Logic...

Sorry to bother this forum again but i read somewhere that it´s possible to record the iPad output via the headphone jack direct into Logic Pro X. Mmhhh, i know it`s better trough a decent interface but for now it would be enough to integrate my favorite iOS apps into the big DAW.

The problem is i can`t get it work. If someone has time and/or a boring moment it would be nice to know how and if this works. If not, take it as another Spam from me....

Cheers.

Do you have a line-in on the computer you want to connect to?

EDIT: This is a couple of years old, but maybe it will help.

  • As far as i know with the coming iOS8 update the iOS Device when connected with lightning cable to a computer will show up as a selectable audio device making it possible to record what ever the iOS device outputs, looking forward to this...

  • Thank you guys.... i will check that all out.

  • Or, since I know you to be a NanoStudio master, you could record it as a sample into NanoStudio and then use Nanosync to grab it.

  • Since i have now my THIRD iPad Lemon....ähh... Air after another defekt (support is good ;) i just load a few Synths on it. For now only Mitosynth and Tera Synth. I want to record these live without too many steps because it was another reason which kills my workflow and inspiration on iOS. But these 2 Synths getting still my love. Since i will resell my iPad as soon as possible and will change to a coming iPhone 6 i will miss Tera Synth a lot.
So i will focus on universal apps in the future.... of course my most wanted iOS app will be NanoStudio 2!

Recording directly for sure would be nice, but there are several workarounds. A lot of apps support export of audio files directly. Or record into Cubasis or similar. What works great is iConnectmidi2 or 4+. You can use it for both, Midi and recording. I do it in Cubase but should work also for Logic.

double post due to error msg...Error
"String could not be parsed as XML"

  • I'm still interested since a while in the iconnectmidi2+ but i wanted to wait for iOS 8 and OSX Yosemite because i don't want to buy another thing i will not use or need in a few weeks. With Air Drop from iPhone/iPad to Mac it would be fast and easy to change audio in high quality without another device or cable ;)

  • If you have an airplay recorder such as Reflector you can use that to get a pure digital music recording onto the Mac.

  • @BiancaNeve: Thank you! I will check that out too. Damn... i still have much too learn. I miss my simple iPhone 4 productions ;)
