Isolating instruments from songs you want to learn. Tips or recommendations?
I stumbled upon an app that lets me isolate instruments and remove vocals. I had tried with some music players that include EQ tools, but I wasn’t able to do this with them. could be my lack of EQ knowledge.
Any tips for using EQ or any other tools to achieve this? Do you have software recommendations (ios preferred but open to other platforms)

Not sure if there is a good iOS tool, but iZotope RX can do this really well.
Maybe

There's this:

Results vary massively in terms of quality depending on what you feed it. Think there's another one called 'Moises' but it is subscription I think.
I’ve had pretty good results using Izotope’s RX to remove drums from tracks so I can practice finger-drumming. This is with version 8 and I’ve heard things have improved
I've had marginally good luck with AnyTune Pro+. By marginal, I mean being able to remove or isolate an instrument such as a guitar sufficiently enough for practice and learning purposes, but not sounding great.
It helps you isolate sounds by showing the spectrum and letting you highlight a rectangular region that covers that part of the spectrum. Think of it like drawing a box around the main parts of the area that stands out when that instrument or vocal is playing, then being able to adjust the amount of removal or isolation of that part.
And of course it has the speed up / slow down functions that are helpful for practice as well.
lets unmix works pretty well, and is ios. the best option, from my experience is https://www.lalal.ai/ . its a bit pricy, but the quality is worth it.
Zplane deCoda (desktop)
I’ve used Moises. It’s easy to use and has impressive results.

Was gonna recommend this one as well.
I have RX9, and it’s been great. Even when isolating vocals they’re pretty much artifact free.
As stated above Transcribe + and Let’s Unmix do what you’re looking for.
You can add Ruffio to that list though currently there is no import button visible.
I emailed the developer. We shall see.
With one of the developments in Ai, there’s several free web apps and actual apps.
One that’s AUv3 is Let’s Unmix, free with IAP.
Thanks everyone!
I had a chance to try a few of the ios ones (Transcribe +, Anytune, & Let's Unmix). Most worked well for some of the tunes I tried, but there was one that all of them had trouble with in separating the guitar enough from the vocals; the vocal harmonies really seem to interfere. Out of those three, Let's Unmix was somehow able to get it the clearest for some sections.
I still mean to try the other suggestions.
Koala Sampler's "Split Stems" function can also do this (not sure if via additional InApp purchase). But again, the result depends on the input.
The best , most efficient solution is RipX ( https://hitnmix.com/ ) for Mac/Win desktop.
It does the Drums/Bass/Instruments/Vocal separation directly to stems and more granular separation within the app. I use it to remove drums to play along to.
There are several editing modules which get into the weeds ( instrument, replacement, note by note edit etc ) but the separation is covered in the base level app.
For me the best thing is it can batch process dozens of tracks from a list overnight and deliver the stems next day. Done.
Best results are from .wav source files, but of course the mix of the song affects things too. But considering what’s going on it’s brilliant!
There’s a free trial too… so no surprises.
Thanks for sharing that.. looks to be a very powerful app.. off to investigate..
To some extent that is true, and I have tried some of the tools mentioned only to find that they sometimes do a much less than perfect job.
I definitely agree with @el_bo that iZotope RX does a great job - I’m not aware of anything that does as good a job of completing isolating or removing a vocal (or drums or bass for that matter).
I can't recommend a tool but I am subscribed to a Youtube channel called Digital Split whose mission in life is to publish stems on Youtube for popular songs of the past. 70s and 80s in particular. He's been taken down several times before but is up right now with about 6,000 stems.
You don’t need the advanced version, as the functionality is in the standard version. That retails at $399, but they often have sales that can reduce it by quite a lot.
