IOS Daw recommendation with external midi gear
hi,
I'm new to iOS DAW and I'm looking for a DAW that I can use with ios synths together with the Elektron Analog Rytm or any other external gear.
Well basically the Daw should host and sequence AUv3 plugins, send or receive sync to external midi/usb gears, can send program channel, channel mutes and midi CC for automation of gear's parameters. A really cool point would be the ability to record, track, mix and master audio.
I use AUM and love it, but it doesn't have a sequencer. I do use it as a host and use the AR to sequence synths. But it's quite rudimentary and I can't get chords with this config.
I checked out nanostudio 2 on youtube and really like the UI but I read somewhere that it doesn't send program change nor midi clock sync? Also it can't record audio, but I could use MTR plugin for that matter, but I doubt I can use to mix and master audio.
Some swear by Cubasis 3 and I'm not sure of the current state of development, the price is a little steep for me though. I'm trying the demo version of Cubasis 2 but I can't seem to try those functions.
Audio Evolution Mobile Studio looks promising but I don't know about the midi capabilities. Maybe someone could shed some light on that? The price is right though!

There is a megathread for AEM , maybe you could ask there

and a manual

I was about to suggest ZenBeats which besides the classic timeline workflow, it also has clip based function (like Ableton) , but couldn't find a way to create midi CCs (besides the classic pitch/mod/sustain....etc...) , worth asking/making a FR on

Drambo does everything you want, except it doesn’t have an audio timeline. You can record tracks out as stems, but there’re no internal audio tracks.
I get around this with Loopy Pro as an AU in Drambo. Worth a look, to see if it fits your needs.
thanks for the tip. will ask there next.
haven't tried drambo yet, but looking at it, it kindof doesn't fit my workflow.
Nanostudio 2 does send midi clock and midi start/stop ... doesn't sent playhead position so when you revind position in NS2 it doesn't affect external hw sequencers playhead position ..
No direct posibility to send program change though .. maybe it would be possible using some AUv3 MIDI plugin but not sure with that .. (maybe using StreamByter app ??)
Recording only into Sampler (both obsidian and slate), not "real" audio track - in recording screen you can record in sync with playback (you can control play/stop of sequencer from recording screen and start record automatically based on treshold of incoming audio)
Hi,
Would bm3 fill ops needs? I know it syncs to and from hardware well.
Does BM3 do program change and automate midi CC?
I guess I'll check out more on drambo videos first.
I'm kindof more familiar with the workflow of cubasis and the likes.
Forget BM3 , there are many hardcore users that love the app , but the remaining dev can't deliver ,else he could somehow ask money (IAPs, new version) , or simply he is not interested at all (zero feedback since years) . Check version history on app store and you will understand . The Intua forum became a spam bot playground and opening a ticket on support is useless
Wouldn't count on a quick update fix , if an iOS update breaks something seriously , reminds me a bit the desktop Geist2 app
