You can’t open an iPad up and fit a sound card, or any card come to that – it doesn’t have any NuBus slots, or PCIe slots or whatever sound cards use these days
How about this?

I dont understand your point
This Looks Nice. Is there Any Chance for an Interface with usb hub?
The Zoom U-22 is on sale right now (if there are any left). For 39€ in Germany, it‘s unbeatable. If Money and portability doesn’t matter, I would go for RME or SPL.
It's just a terminology problem. You're actually looking for a USB Audio Interface". A *sound card is the actual circuit board that could be installed in a desktop computer. But I know many iOS users use the term for an audio interface.
Thanks. I have a Look.
U22 has no Midi ins and outs

Ok, i get the Point. So i am looking for an Audio Interface with Midi and an usb Port.
Simple as hell🤘
The Go Twin pictured above has midi (with included TRS adapters) and comes with lightning and USB cables (to go into a hub or cck / laptop / desktop). The inexplicable design decision was to use a usb-mini connector that doesn't appear to work with regular usb-mini cables - so don't lose the cables.
I found mine more reliable with usb cable and CCK, the direct lightning connection kept cutting out every 10 minutes, but that maybe because I was using it without batteries. With USB and an (unpowered) CCK I am able to use dynamic mic and guitar to iPad without needing batteries (unlike the iRig Pro Duo it copies which doesn't work without batteries).
Having said all that I much prefer my Zoom U24 (which does have midi, unlike the U22). The Go Twin looks neat on its own, but once you plug it up things get messy pretty quick, the form factor of the Zoom keeps things under control.
I use this with my 9th gen iPad every day, and can only recommend it. USB hub is no problem. In my setup the iPad is directly (Lightning/USB B cable, no camera adapter) connected to an Atolla five port USB hub. The hub is powered via external PSU or a power bank. I can now use this audio interface together with some USB midi gear: Arturia MicroFreak synth, Behringer X-Touch mini controller, Korg SQ-1 sequencer and an Arturia KeyStep.
Thanks to all
The only interface with USB hub that I remember is the Focusrite iTrack Dock.
By the way, since Bluetooth MIDI works so well, the inclusion of MIDI ports in an audio interface isn't high priority for me anymore.
Not that much if you want to send midi clock to external HW (or receive midi clock from external hw) - for that MIDI over bluetooth is unusable, it just doesn’t work, clock fluctuates horribly.

I've synced my Digitakt and my Electribe MX with GR16 and Drambo quite well (with only clock and a few CCs going over BT MIDI) but it's true that too much MIDI data will sooner or later exhaust the power from the HW MIDI ports.
I wonder if some kind of additional power supply on the MIDI port could improve that...
I am sorry, but I had this before and I can’t recommend it. The audio quality was noticeably inferior, almost compressed when listening to it through headphones when compared to my iRig Stream and my current Arturia Minifuse 2. I am a firm believer in YMMV but when it comes to this unit I can’t keep shut….avoid.

i tried to sent clock over BT (using Yamaha MD-BT01) to Syntakt and it was disaster.. whem BPM set on iPad was 160, on Syntakt it fluctuated even +/- 20 randomly ) at 60 BPM it was better, it fluctuated just +/- 2-3 )
What MIDI BT interface you used ? Wondering it was working, i was sending ONLY clock nothing else yet it was totally broken. Maybe it was problem with that particular Yamaha MD-BT01 and not BT itself ??
Wow, that's interesting. I have the Quicco mi.1, the Yamaha MD-BT01 and some WIDI dongles.
I've only used the Quiccos for syncing so far (and I had to enable MIDI clock transmission first, by sending them a custom MIDI SysEx message) but that worked well!
I might try the same with the Yamahas...
Which app did you use to send MIDI clock? How was the CPU load on the iPad while sending clock?
A comparsion After a Research…
Go twin £50 mini fuse 2£120 plus cost of lightning adapter? The brief was for inexpensive
Nanostudio .. Nanostudio is pretty tight on MIDI clock, when i switched to cable (using iRig Duo as midi interface) it was rock solid.
Your experience gives me hope it's possible and it's just Yamaha MD-BT01 what is broken .. tried also update firmware on it but didn't help.. Would be nice if you find time to check your MD-BT01 ..
OK, I was curious enough to check it right away on my iPad 6, iOS 13.7, running NS2 and sending MIDI clock over Bluetooth MIDI.
Quicco mi.1 attached to Digitakt with clock enabled, connected to NS2 over BT MIDI: Syncs up to 999bpm without lost clock pulses.
MD-BT01 in place of mi.1: Works just as well, no audible delays and syncing up to 999bpm without lost clock pulses.
By the way, I didn't know that NS2 can send MIDI clock while syncing over Ableton LINK - veeery cool
BTW @dendy, before you throw away your BT MIDI dongles, are you probably sending any MIDI back from your Syntakt to NS2?
True.
But cheap(est) is often not best way to go, tends to cost more in total when someone in the end gets a better quality product anyway. Paying for a medium-range product will win in the long run, and there is seldom any need for a pro product for most users. Cheap can of course sometimes be OK quality-wise.
But in this case, it is IMO not only cheap but downright BAD at what it is supposed to do and I wanted to spread the word so nobody gets disappointed, or at least know what they are getting for their hard-earned money.
So, in the end we both just want to help out. Fair enough?😎

@dendy: in the past, I have sent MIDI clock over bluethooth between an iPhone (clock source) and my iPad without problems.
Yesterday my zoom u24 has landed. Looks very good. Bigger size as my XR 🤣.
Am I right with the u24 and my Akai Mpk Mini they will work with an usb hub together or do I need another thing?
By the way…. The headphone out isn’t at the moment loud. Any hints to volume this up?
At the moment I boost everything in e.g. drambo up.
You could try turning on high quality in aum. This switches off all apple's built in equalizing and limiting.
Any chance to Sotho in drambo?
