Need recommendation for a working USB C extender
So I’ve got my shiny new iPad Pro with all the trimmings. First thing I needed to do, of course, was get a USB C interface/hub, so I could use my headphones. I went with a hyperdrive, so that I would have all the connectivity options.
As it is, it works fine. But its connector lead is only about six inches, and I want an extender, to help relieve strain on this iPad’s only physical hard point. I got one… a ugreen supposedly rated for 10gbps and power pass through. Aaaand of course it doesn’t work. Maybe it does the power thing, but it most certainly does not pass the data needed for the headphone interface.
Sigh. Anyway. Can anyone recommend a known good cable for this?

I use Manhattan Cables’ USB-C Extension Cable. Very stiff. Now looking for more flexible.
Yeah because you would need an adapter with DAC / ADC, not just one used for charging.
I’m not sure I understand. The hyperdrive performs that function successfully when plugged in directly. All I’m looking for is an extension of the hyperdrive’s own connection cable.
You will still need an extension cable with DAC / ADC otherwise the Hyperdrive will not work as intende, unfortunately
Have you tried turning over the USB-C connectors at either (or both) connectors? USB-C is supposed to work either way, but that may not be entirely true.
That is so very odd. Well, please do let me know if you have any recommendations for such.
OMG. That actually worked. I can’t believe it, but evidently there’s some polarity to these things. What’s really weird is that only the connection to the hyperdrive is like this. With the orientation properly set on this connection, it doesn’t matter whether the jack into the iPad is “up” or “down”.
So bizarre. I really need to see the pinouts on all this.
I'm glad that worked and that I was wrong about the cable requirements!
