Chef Of The Future

The chef has created three appetizers that all use the same common ingredient. A full bodied Tempranillo is recommended.

The title comes from an old episode of The Honeymooners. In that episode, Ralph invents the Handy Housewife Helper, a kitchen utensil that does it all. Ralph and Ed decide to advertise on TV. A few seconds before it airs, Ralph realizes that he is on live TV in front of millions. He is overcome with crippling stage fright. This is one of the funniest things I have ever seen!

  • Excellent. Terrific conclusion. Is this what you were working on?

No, I still have a few things to do. I’ll post it next weekend. The idea for this one was to create a track with three different sections (appetizers) that all used the same bassline. The one I’m working on now takes a different approach based on your previous comment. Please feel free to offer comments on composition and production. I’m always looking for good ideas that I can “borrow”. Thanks for listening. Enjoy the weekend!

  • 100% agree, excellence is the word!!!
The flowing vibe very enjoyable, and the beat is so lovely.
I love the description of this creation, common ingredient for 3 superb plates of loveliness!!!
    Thanks for this excellent production!!!

  • Thanks Rene! Did you enjoy the Honeymooners clip? I thought that was hilarious. I wish they still made TV like that. Nowadays, everything is so edgy, sexy, and smart.

  • A tasty mix! Nice variety of dishes, each one complementing the other.

Thank you very much. We went out for Tapas last week and it seemed to fit the mood. Thanks for listening and commenting. Have a great day!

  • Lovely starter, looking forward to main course 🥦
Enjoyed the guitar riff that came in about 1:52 and the violin in that last section.
    Compliments to the chef 👨‍🍳

Really great track! Sound patch choices are excellent, mixes together well. Id be interested in knowing some of the production notes, like what did you use for guitar, other sounds. This song reminds me so much of a electronic jazz musician I heard in Korea.

That’s one of my favorite HM episodes. My dad and I have been watching those old shows every night the last couple of weeks (I’m caretaking). It’s either watch a HM episode or an Eferen Reyes pool game.

Hi Tony! I'm glad you like my cooking. I got my culinary degree from the College of Hard Knocks. Thanks for listening.

Thank you very much, Dav! I think the violin is from Thumbjam. I love the flexibility of the interface. You can set it narrow for melodic lines, or wide for wild, crazy arpeggio stuff. The sound library is also very good. I may have also used it for the guitar part. Although, I may also have used a bit from Blocs Wave. I am a bit embarrassed to admit that I don't remember. I get into a somewhat "altered" state when I'm playing with my iPad and don't pay attention. I often create random MIDI tracks then try dozens of different synths with them. When I get something I like, I freeze it with all effects in place. I will often come back and put additional effects on those audio tracks, and refreeze them. The end result is often very much unlike the original. I've found that I can have almost unlimited audio tracks in Cubasis. MIDI data, effects, and automation really seem to weigh it down. The downside is that only audio files remain and I lose track of the source.

I also spent a lot of time with my dad before he passed. He was a big fan of "Matlock" with Andy Griffith. We used to play pool in the basement, when we weren't playing ping-pong on the table. You are a good son! I have always wanted to do a song called "Chef Of The Future", and just decided that this would be it. Best wishes to you and your dad. Thanks for listening!

  • Thanks for the info, @Paulieworld. Thumb jam looks cool. I’m gonna pick it up with my gift card. Your way of composing is a lot like mine. I sure like the feeling you got going on with this track,

Andy Griffith hits home with dad, my dad knew him growing up - they came from the same small town, mount airy nc. Andy was a little older, so they weren’t close friends, but they went fishing and together sometimes when all the boys would gather together for an outing.

Looking forward to listening to more of your tracks.

I found something last night that you might find amusing. I recorded it back in 1999, when I actually played! It has a muted trumpet part that turned out pretty good, I think. I remember listening to Arturo Sandoval for ideas. I remastered it last night and will post later today.
